Help-Protein Powder issues

I have had it with trying to get my Protein in with the yucky powders..  I am now trying the soy protein that is unflavored and adding it to my water and crystal lite.  Can any one give me any tips on ways to hide the Protein to get it down?  I have been making chocolate milk but that has gotten to the point it gags me too.

Hi,

I'm having the same trouble.  I've looked for some other options... like the isopure drinks (like flavored water).  They have 40 g of protein in 20oz.  My NUT recommended adding a bit of crystal lite or sf koolaid to enhance the flavor.  I've also tried some of the perfectly protein drinks from bolthouse farms.  There is a mocha choc flavored one that has higher protein but I hate the taste of coffee so I couldn't do it.  Also, greek yogurt.  It is higher in protein that regular.  It does come in flavors but I've found that if you add some crystal light to the plain it is quite good.  I've also put plain on a potato and it tastes a lot like sour cream.  Hope this helps.

Wow, the isopure drinks sound like that might be a good option.  Where do you get them?   I like the idea of the Greek Yogurt.  I have not tried eating a potato yet.  I am still pureeing my food.  But once I can I will try that on a potato.

I got the isopure at GNC but look online.  I'm pretty sure you can get it other places as well.

As for the potato, I cook the baked potato really soft and scoop it out.  Same as mashed potatoes which is on my pureed diet.  I talked with the NUT about it and she said it was fine on the pureed diet.  I just couldn't stand the taste of the instant potatoes now.

Good luck!

Thanks for the great ideas.  I will get some of the Greek Yogurt next time I am out and try the potato with it.  I already cooked and mashed a sweet potato and it was great with a bit of cinnamon mixed in. I wonder if that would mask the soy protein?

Terry when i was drinking these i would add some Instant Dry Milk to the drinks. It got to the point i gagged before i did that. Seemed to work better. Try that and see. To this day i still have a time drinking milk but do anyway.

Hi Keith,  I was off work yesterday because I was shaking, dizzy and felt rotten.  I made the 4 cups skim and 1 cup dry milk mix.  I tried it with the soy protein and butterscotch sf pudding mix, tossed all that.  Then I tried 1 cup of the milk mix and 1 scoop choc super advanced protein powder, added cherry extract for flavoring and added 2 ounces cherry vanilla lite yogurt.  Not bad, but I still have issues with the thick drink.  Thanks for the advise.  How are you doing now?  any more dizzy spells?

I only went 2 days without getting in my Protein and it made such a difference!  I could hardly move yesterday until the afternoon, my arms and legs felt like I had weights on them.  You really had me concerned, your bruises were pretty bad.  Glad you are doing better.    From most of the folks posts on here it sounds like the Protein Powders or drinks may be needed for along time.

Have you tried Nectar? It's more of a fruity drink instead of a milky one. I couldn't tolerate the milky chalky tasting drinks, but Nectar was definately doable. You can go to Syntax (I think that's their name) website who manufactures it and ask them to send you samples. Then you aren't out paying $40 a container if you don't like it. I am a fan of the lemonade and fuzzy navel flavors.
