A wow, a word and a need
The WOW.....101 lbs gone! for good! forever! good riddance! YeeHaw!!! *does happy dance*
My word for 2010 is FEARLESS! I am not going to let fear rule my decisions, my journey, or my life. I want to live my life open (if that makes sense), try new things, go places and have new experiences. There is so much more I've lost with those 100 lbs like the shame, fear and guilt. It's all been so wonderously freeing.....
....but now I need support. I started doing new things. I've signed up for classes at IUPUI Continuing Education. I go to the gym and use the treadmill. I take a ballroom dance class on Monday nights and now I want to star****er aerobics. There's a class on Saturday morning. I have everything I need, the suit, the gym membership and now I need the courage! I keep going back to my word of the year but this involves a SWIMSUIT for pity's sake LOL. I want to be fearless but years of feeling shame about how I looked is difficult to overcome in all situations. Did I mention this situation involves a swimsuit?
OK OK I can do this. I can do this. I can do this. I can do this.....feel free to join in and chant with me
Thanks for the encouraging words!
That would be great to have someone to go with! It's at LA Fitness, 146th and Carey road. They have a saturday class at 9 am. They have tues and thurs night classes too, at 6pm I think.

I certainly can relate to your feelings. I went to the Y and swam laps the other day. It was sooo scary to walk into that pool area with people all around and get into the pool. I felt like everyone was stopping to watch me. Turned out... they didn't even give me a second look or some of them even a first one. LOL You have a lot to be proud of. I think you should realize that with the proper swimsuit (which I am sure you have chosen) noone will think you are anything but another girl in the pool. Besides, in your case, they are gonna be there to do the class too so they sure won't be worrying about what you look like. Keep in mind, the girls that get truly noticed in a swimsuit are usually the smoking hot ones with the size 2 body that all the other girls hate... orrrrrr....... the ones that have an inappropriate swimsuit with their chest all hangin out and their buns bare. ewwyyyyyy
I am sure you will be fine and others wont even notice you as being any thing but normal.
I know thats a weird word for us to get used to... never been normal before. But you are now!!!
So, enjoy it and keep up the good work. Conquering swimsuit fear is a tough one.
YOU CAN DO IT!
Well I'm up and in my suit and ready to head out the door and now that I think of it.....I'm freezing all the time (nothing new for us, right? I got an electric blanket for Christmas, for crying out loud and it's awesome, btw) so what do I choose to do? Water aerobics in the middle of winter. Oh well, I'll survive and I'm going to go have fun!
Thanks!!!
Kathy
I go to a water aerobics class in Evansville. I'm normally very self-conscious too in a bathing suit but I think you'll find that the others taking your class are imperfect folks as well. I've found that most of the people taking aqua aerobics are there because they are unable because of size or joint problems to take the regular exercise classes. I feel totally normal when I'm in class. I've even shared with them about my upcoming surgery. Hope you find the same experience.
