Primary Care or Surgeon? Who to call when?
I am sooo confused.... Who do I call when? I do not know when to call the surgeon and when to call my primary care physician?
I was in the ER Thursday night for dehydration and had a couple of lab issues.... they called my Primary Care? I called both today to follow-up and am meeting with a PA at my Primary Care's office.... but I am just not sure I think this is the right way to go.....
I am not sure how much they know about the surgery.... I would like a Primary Care in Carmel that is familiar with the surgery too...
Who do you call when?
Thanks!!!

If there is any way that what I was experiencing was due to my WLS, I contacted my surgeon. If there had been a time that it was a PCP thing, they would had directed me in that direction. All of mine was a WLS thing though. So..dehydration & labs...I would had contacted my surgeon's office.
~3 months after I had my WLS, I did switch PCP's when they showed how very ignorant they were on WLS. Since then, I've switched again and am very happy with who I now see. She is through St. Vincent although she is located in the Fisher's area. She has some personal experience with WLS so she is quite knowledgeable on the topic. 'Contact' me if you would like her name.

I agree with Sherri, if it's at all realted to surgery, you should start by talking to your surgeon first. If they want your PCP to manage, they'll tell you so.
