all that work for nothing..... part 2
Well, I took the remnants of the mail to the Camby PO. I spoke with the Postmaster. She looked at the pieces, and essentially said sorry about your luck. She said they cannot reimburse me for the lost postage, and suggested I call the Postal Inspector.
They don't have security cameras trained on the outside collection boxes.
I called the postal inspector. The local number she gave me has been disconnected. I called the toll free number, and they are already closed. I filed a complaint online.
This sucks!!

Yep, I think I'd definately contact the TV news stations. Give you a disconnected number??? What the heck were YOU suppose to do to ensure your mail was safe and secure? Afterall, you put it into THEIR deposit box! Yep, call Rafayel Sanchez..I think he's either on channel 6 or 13.

I am going through something with the PO also. I ordered a ring (not expensive, just fashion jewelry) that was shipped in a 5 x 7 envelope that would had clearly fit in my locked mailbox (I live in an apt) and I did not get the item. I spoke with the "acting" postmaster of my local branch only to be informed that my apts do not have a regular carrier and have not for a while so each day it's someone else carrying the mail. He checked some shelf for my ring. No package. The shipper obtained tracking for the ring but did not request signature confirmation. The "acting" postmaster tried to say that the carrier may had left it on my doorstep (why would an fool do that when there are 4 units in each building and it's Christmas!!) but when I told him that it would had fit in my box (10 x 20) then why would the carrier put it at the door he had the "uh"phrase come out of his mouth along with he will have to find out who was the carrier that day and talk to them (this should had been done when I first called on Monday) but it wasn't until I called to file my complaint with Consumer Affairs did he "act" like he wanted to do something.
To file a complaint with Consumer Affairs department of the USPS call 800-275-8777. I cannot remember all the prompts, but there is a 0 out option. You should receive a confirmation number for your complaint. Explain that you have spoken with the postmaster at your local PO already and did not receive a favorable response to your complaint.
