Stay at home Mom - dehydration/lactose issues 2 wks out
Good Morning All!
I ran into one of the girls from my support group at Walmart Weds evening. She's 2 weeks out and had just come from getting 2 IV bags and vitamins at the hospital. She's having dehydration issues AND has become lactose intollerant as well. I didn't have the dehydration issue does anyone have some advise on how to get her liquids in? I sit at a desk and once I was back to work it was easy to drink all day but I'm sure it's different when you chase a toddler and a 6 month old.
Huggs,
Frankie

Frankie, this is my battle almost daily!!! Early out, the SF popsicles were my best friend. Tell her to eat as many as she can ... they are fluid! They also made my nausea go away so I could drink. Also SF jello is a good way to get some fluids in. Once the dehydration sits in... nausea, headache, chills and sleepy set in too. It is a horrible cycle... popsicles have helped me many times. Then powerade zero helps a bunch too.
Best wishes to your friend. Tell her she can text me anytime. I live with dehydration on a regular basis since surgery!! I feel for her.
Huge hugz!
Tracy
I too had lactose issues when in my first few months out. I am six months now and have recently been able to tolerate milk again much to my happiness! I found and still find it hard to get my liquids in. Traci is so right about the sugar free popsicles...they really helped. I also made a slushy out of my Crystal Light to get my liquids in as well. Thank gosh we have a sonic here because I would eat their ice to get the crunchy feeling I needed and to help with fluids. I hope she gets better soon. I have a five year old special needs child so I know how hard it is when you have a little one at home. Tell her I will be praying for her.
I am almost 2 months out and still hve trouble getting all my fluids in and am lactose intolerant also. I find I do better with warm liquids than cold. I also use soy milk (6 grm protein in 8 oz) and Jay Robb Egg White protein powder. I mix 1/2 scoop protein powder in with warm NOT HOT decaf coffee w/ soy milk and a little splenda - it thickens it and its almost like a cappucino! Several family members have tried it and liked it! I can also tolerate small amounts of sugar free, decaf international foods coffee mixes withthe protein powder mixed in. She can try Lactaid or generic version also to see if it will help!
Good Luck! Ritaanita
