Dr. Diaz? Carmel

Did anyone have Dr. Diaz at St. Vincent do their surgery?  I am having mine two weeks from today and I am getting REALLY nervous......afraid of everything, especially ending up with an open surgery instead of laparoscopic.  Anyway, any good (or....bad) feedback that you have about this doctor might help calm my nerves - I ONLY met him at my original free explanation class (or whatever that first visit was called) - I liked him then, but that was 6 months ago, so I don't remember him much...

Thanks in advance - I am SOOOOOOOO nervous!

I don't know Dr. Diaz, but if it would make you feel better, you could call and ask to go meet with him again before your surgery. Answer any last minute questions you have, etc. I'm sure all will go well and you'll do fine. Everyone has these fears before surgery.

Dr. Diaz did my surgery 1/14/09. I really like him. I had a lot of scar tissue from previous surgeries plus had a lot of bleeding. The bleeding was something I had had before. Dr. Diaz took his time and although I was in the OR for close to three hours he did not switch to an open. I did very well and have not had any complications. I did initially have trouble getting in all my fluids but he did not hesitate to send me over to out patient to get fluids replaced. I had minimal discomfort (walking helped the most). Also my scars are hardly noticeable. From my experience having other surgeries I feel Dr. Diaz is very good! He and his office have been excellent calling me back whenever I have had questions. I'm afraid without his skill I may have had an open. Read my review on my profile. I'm sure you will do fine. Keep us posted on your progress!

Dr. Diaz did my RNY a year ago October 13.  I cannot say enough good things about him. He is very kind and what you remember of him 6 months ago is how he'll be when you see him again. Very pleasant and down to earth, doesn't make you feel like he is in a rush or like you're just a number being cranked through that hospital, because let's face it they do a LOT of surgeries!

Congratulations on your surgery, you've got one of the best if not the best doctor up there in my opinion!
