post op exercise

Ok, so I'm 8 days post op and I'm thinking about going to the gym tonight.  I don't think it would be smart to do weights but I'm contemplating the eliptical machine.  Anyone know if this would be a bad idea?  They said it was important to walk, does it matter if you do it on the eliptidcal?  Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Have a blessed day,
Heather B.

I would only walk for now... I have an elliptical and will not be using it until I get clearance from the surgeon.   Mainly because there is much more motion and it is more intense than walking... especially with the movement of your arms....

I think its best if you wait until your surgeon releases you for exercise other than walking.  I am not a professional but I am sure they have their reasons, my surgeon didn't release me to even drive a car for two weeks.

I am two weeks out and still wouldn't try exercising.  Especially after the bleeding ulcer (blood coming out both ends) and endoscope reminded me that things are still healing inside.  If you are anxious to exercise, contact your surgeon's office.  Let them tell you when you can attempt it.
