7 weeks postop and WOW
Hey everyone! Just checking in and giving a progress report. I am now officially 7 weeks postop and I can truly say I love my RNY!
As of the 6 week checkup I had lost 30 pounds and 8 inches off my waist! That is so fantastical to me as to seem almost unreal! I am now down to less than 100 pounds to go.
I have been one of the extremely fortunate ones...I tolerate most things without difficulty. I have vomited 2 times since surgery and both times were due to eating to quickly or some meat that I just didn't tolerate.
If anyone had told me 2 months ago that I would never be hungry and have to remind myself to eat I would have laughed in their face.
Getting enough protein still remains a daily challenge but one I am meeting. The nectar helps a lot.
I have so much more energy. already my feet don't hurt and I climbed 3 flights of stairs twice yesterday!
LOL my biggest compaint so far is that my budget doesn't extend to all the new clothes I want to buy....seems kinda wasteful since I can now believe in a very short time I will need a smaller size again. I have went from a size 22 to a loose 18 already.
Thank you all for the tremendous amount of support and encouragement offered here....and the journey continues

Vanessa, no one's budget can conform to the clothes we want, but hold out until you are closer to goal! Goodwill or asking around on here (and coming to the next clothing exchange) will help you alot. I would love to help but have passed along all my larger sizes already to other losers. Congrats on the 30 pounds and 8". Isn't it great to see the results??

The support groups at our bariatric center are unfortunately open only to those that went throught their program. I asked for someone else, and there is a meeting tomorrow night (Monday the 23rd) at I believe 6:30-8:00 in the basement of St Marys Hospital. It is open to anyone that has had WLS, regardless of where or with who. I would like to go because I had a conflict with mine both months. They alternate between St. Marys Hospital and Deaconess Hospital.

I am doing pretty good. It looks like I am right about 40 lbs. down, but I have had a lot of trouble with anything new, and other than jello, pudding, cottage cheese, etc. I walk a lot, since it has been exceptionally nice I have been walking the kids to and from school when I can, which is about a time each way. Food wise, I did good the first couple weeks, but my pouch doesnt seem to want to try much new. I just went back to work this week - I feel better and have been itching to get out of the house more. I am a paralegal, but there is no part time for a paralegal, and with 6 kids and a husband who works out of town, I couldnt do that. I went to work for Wal-Mart, and I love it. It gets me out a bit, and it should be a little extra money. They pay better than I expected. For the first time in my life, I actually was dying to go to work, and I didnt care where. I guess thats what loosing a bit of extra weight does for you. The down size is that I am about out of any clothes I own! I will have to hit the goodwills pretty soon. I am afraid to eat before i go, or at work for fear I will have a problem and be miserable at work. I have just been taking a protein drink and a protein bar I got from the bariatric center. I am tired from working all week, but i am so much better than I was before surgery. I wouldnt go back for anything!. I was wondering how you have been doing. Hope you have a good thanksgiving! I do intend to try a tiny bit of turkey!
