he is gonna be the death of me yet...tues night i had just gotten back from picking my uncle up (my aunt is in a nursing home and he is 81 and does not drive) so anyway it was about 830 pm when i got home and he was in the bed room and came out and sat in a recliner and he was talking ok but then all of a sudden his words were slurred and he was odd ....short story...
I had to call 911 and his blood sugars were 20....they shot the sugar in an iv and it went up to 150 and he was ok...amazing that fast...never saw anything like it..by the time they got him to the hospital it was 70, so they then put him on a drip and said it should be reading over 200 and it was only 116..so they admitted him and ran all sorts of tests and never found a reason for this...they did send him home with a machine to keep tabs on his levels..
he said he did not feel anything different to let him know he was having a problem..as a matter a fact he had just eaten a bunch of candy...
the dogs had gotten up on his lap and kept licking him...they knew something was wrong and thats how come for me to notice cos he was saying things like please get off me, please stop..odd...i think they knew he needed help..the words were not clear they were slurred and what have you...and why for me to take notice...he is home now....

OMG How odd...can you ask his WLS Doc how this could happen??? Or maybe even the nut??I know regular Doctors just dont get it when it comes to WLS patients.. Ill ONLY go to ST V Carmel if I have a problem that might be related..

sucks he now has the VA and not regular insurance i am thinking of calling dr clark...as i know lynn with dr clark also had these issues and i will check with her as well...it is common for wls to become hypoglycemic and i kinda have the feeling this is gonna be the case..then along with his other issues things get compounded with him..knuckle head he is...
but i had never seen how the low blood sugars do to a person...amazing the things i am learning at this age...LOL
ole ed will get a smack up aside his head is what he will get...lol

Hey hon...sorry that Ed is having more problems. I became hypoglycemic about a year post-op. 43 is about the lowest mine's gotten (that I know of). When mine is low, I start getting a little jittery and have the sweats...kinda like hot flashes. When that happens, I know to take a couple of my glycene tablets. I saw a girl pass out from hers being too low and that scared the crap out of me enough that I pay very close attention now to my symptoms as they start. Before all this intestine crap, a little sliver of potato in veggie soup would be enough to trigger mine. Since food moves through me differently now it takes more to trigger it.
