been lurking - not much to say
I haven't really posted since I first had the consultation at St. V - but I still come on here every day and read your posts. I haven't had much to talk about because nothing new has happened really since the consultation. After all my running around to get my medical records, I called the surgical to make sure they had everything, and they were missing the letter from my PCP and my psych eval. GRRR! I finally got them both to send those to Dr. Inman's office. I got a copy of the letter my PCP sent...they had transposed the number in my weight, they had 248 instead of 284 in the letter - so the wrong BMI - and in the last paragraph, they had someone else's name! UGH! So hopefully all of this will be straightened out soon and Dr. Inman's office can send the letter to my insurance company.
But funny enough, St. Francis called me the other day. They were the first people I contacted-by voicemails, emails, filling out their online form...no one would call me back! finally getting a human asking to make an appointment and told someone would be reviewing my online application and calling me back-this was over a couple of weeks...so I called St. V while I was waiting, and St. Vincent's called me the SAME DAY I filled out their online form. Needless to say, I went with them.
Well someone called me from St. F - and she was ruuude! She basically called and told me they got my application and wanted to know if I wanted to come in for an appointment, but that there was no way that insurance was going to pay for my surgery so I should just forget about it. Seriously- that's just about what she said! I just told her that the in the 2 months it took them to respond to my request, I went to St. V's. Then she hung up on me! LOL So pleasant!
I am trying to stay hopeful that all my problems with the letters and medical records are over. I'll have some relief for a while until I hear the Insurance companie's verdict. I hope I'm not in for another battle!
I hope to have my surgery in early 2010, I'd like to celebrate my next birthday in a new body!

Sorry to hear about all the problems you have been having. I am also struggling with my ins. They can't seem to find my paperwork that has now been sent twice! I am calling them again on Friday and I hope to get a different answer. If all goes well I hope to have surgery in December.
I also had the same thing happen to me with St. Francis. They were not rude, but it took a long time for them to get back with me. I looked into St. V's 5 years ago, but my ins refused to pay. I am now going through IU. So far everything has been really good, minus my ins.
Don't be too much of a stranger. :)
