St. Vincent ER Visit
Well, I am 6 months out post-op and have been doing fine. However, last Wednesday I started having some abdominal pain on my right side (kind of like a burning sensation). It started on my right side but the pain runs laterally. I called the Dr's office on Friday and was told to start taking the Carafate and Prilosec again. IF my symptoms got worse go to the St. V's ER, and then call them Monday to let them know how I did during the weekend.
Vomiting started Saturday pretty much with anything I eat. So, yesterday I get to work and called Dr's office as requested and was told to go to the ER. I feel odd about going to the ER because, I have always thought of that as a last resort OR you are really bad. We did as told and drove an hour 1/2 to Carmel. Lab work came back fine (which was good), CT of Abdomen and Pelvis was negative --no obstruction, no internal hernia and no blockage! Which is good. They sent me home and was told to call Dr's office today to schedule another Endoscopy. They want to check for a stricture or ulcer (this will be my 3rd Endoscopy, I had a stricture about 1 month out) Now, just waiting for the callback from the office to get this scheduled. Until then, pretty much a liquid diet or really soft foods.

Friend of mine had the RouNY done two years ago. She woke up in the middle of the night about 10 months out basically sounding like what you had, and later found hers was adhesions. She couldnt figure out the throwing up etc with that. Hoping this all works out for you as you have done so super well (both of you) on this journey! You will come thru it! Hang in there and welcome back to the Carafate club....yuck! ha

I am glad you went to the ER. You can never be too careful. I had a perforation and had to have emergency surgery. I literally nearly died. I waited to got despite the horrible pain, fever and loss of conciousness. I thought I was dumping but it was critical. I barely made it in time. It was critical by the time I sought help. Then I developed an ulcer that had me on TPN/IV nutrition for three months. Do not take any chances. A trip to the ER to rule out anything critical is worth the trip. I hope everything goes well and you are feeling better soon.
Endoscopy scheduled for Monday however, I am considering cancelling it now. I am feeling better. I think the Prilosec and Carafate are really doing what they are supposed to do. I was able to eat breakfast this morning and keep everything down. I will see how the rest of today and tomorrow goes before I do cancel my appointment though (just to be on the safe side).
