Clothing exchange and get togethers
I have read some posts about people feeling unsure about coming to the clothing exchanges and group functions. I came to my first clothing exchange In Janurary 09 and was just 9 days post op from my RNY. At that time I had just met 3 people briefly and that was Connie and Joe and Melissa. I was also intimidated as I walked in.
Little did I know how important these friends I met that day would be in my life the next few months up to the present. For those that are new, my husband had a RNY 19 days after mine and had a cardiac arrest 3 days after his surgery. He did not get enough oxygen during the CPR and was in a vegetative state for over 7 months and passed away Sept 2.
We live about 2 hours away from St Vincent so I stayed at the hospital all but 5 of the first 57 days he was there. My OH friends literally took care of me bringing me things to eat and drink and do while I stayed at the hospital. Many came to pray with Lyn & I. I was amazed to see how many came to the funeral home when he passed away. It has been absolutely awesome to see the love care and concern these "strangers" gave to us both.
So don't be anxious, please come and I promise you will be blessed by the friendships you make. And please don't be shy about grabbing for the clothes, everyone is grabbing clothes for themselves and showing clothes to others that they may be interested in.
It is still hard for me to get motivated to go to fun places since Lyn passed away--many days staying in bed sounds better but I know it will do me a world of good to go. Also so many of my friends there have experienced huge losses this year too so it will be a good support day.
Hope to meet lots of new friends this weekend.
Hugs, Terry

Terry, you are a dear, sweet woman who I am blessed to call friend. Even though we've only "seen" each other once, I love you so much.
I live really far away from everyone and I've only made it to one clothing exchange. I so wish I could go to more though. I just want to see the people. Getting the clothes, well that's the SF Icing on the cake. The people on this board are so important to me and my family. Cyber hugs are great but the real hugs are healing!
Can't make this next one but maybe another in the future.
Ooodles of love and smooches,
Jacqui

I can eat as much as I want...I just don't want much.
I'm ashamed of what I did for a Klondike bar...
Terry, You are such a sweetheart and so was Lyn, bless his heart. I would love to see you and all the other girls this week-end but I already had prior plans to go to Brown County/Nashville with a bunch of friends from church on Saturday.
I hope you all have a great time together. Hopefully I can make the next one. Take some pictures of your outing and share some of your great recipes with us, ok?
