Surgery coming up....

16 days until my surgery!  Nov. 4th!!!
I was in Indy all day today getting my physical and doing all of my pretesting!  Today made it feel more real!  This is actually happening!  There are so many emotions that I'm juggling, but overall I just can't wait for the day to get here!
I'm nervous about the actual surgery....worried about how people will respond...anxious that it is just before Thanksgiving...and fighting off doubt that I can actually do this for myself.
I am thankful for this website and the support from all of you.  However, I know that if I don't create a support system for myself (that I see frequently) here in my area, it will be more difficult to succeed.

...just needed to process by typing!  Thanks.  Allissa

Allissa, you can do this and you will have days when you think you can't, but on those days turn here for support because we've all been there and done that. I remember how real it all felt when I had my preop testing done. I had my surgery 8 days before Christmas, so I can relate to the preholiday thinking. Just plan things out for yourself or keep yourself away from the temptation this year. You'll do great!

dr inman is an excellent cutter with a wonderful bedside manner BUT for many of us that had the duodenal switch with her are experiencing issues with aftercare.

I really liked Dr. Inman, she is not only professional but I think she actually cares about her patience.  I just had my one year followup last week and Dr. Inman did tell me that most surgeons from St. V's will no longer see their patience after a year out UNLESS you are having surgery complications.  They are now sending you to someone at the bariatric center for follow-ups after your first year. She said they have done studies and people who have had any of the surgerys do better by following up with this bariatric specialist.

I know how you feel!  My surgery date, also with Dr Inman, is 12/09/09.  My pre-op is 11/11/2009.  Labs and Physical the next day.  I am very excited, but a bit worried about Christmas.  I work in an office and vendors bring in candies at Christmas time.  Sweet of them, but not good for any of us.  I am going to ask that we take all the candy to the local shelter to share with the folks there.

This place is the best for support.  Everyone can understand what we are going through.  And I have found great recipies and advice here from so many wonderful people.  Guys and gals both.
Have you gone to any of the monthly  meetings?  I have met folks on here that also attend the meetings in Bloomington and it is so helpful to see how they have done.
Good luck to you, let me know how it goes please. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

I am only one, But still, I am one.  I cannot do everything, but still I can do something.  And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do
the something that I can do.
