my pcp has had wls and also used dr jones...that helped me...i felt a little better after i spoke with him yesterday...he did double my celexa..we're gonna try that and see if it has any effect..
i also spoke w./ marta (dr jones' nurse) yesterday...she wasnt too concerned with no weight loss, but highly concerned with my severe depression....i have an appt monday @ 2pm....
she also called me back today to chk on me...i thought that was really nice of her...
so very proud to say....
no scales for me until friday
i dont think it will be a problem as i just cant take the stress of even looking @ the scales right now anyway
thanks everyone for all of your advice.

Pammie - sounds like you've got a game plan!

I know I was "obsessed" about the weigh in thing right after surgery...the forgot to tell me about the water gain and when I weighed in the day I had surgery I thought I was going to DIE I'd gain 10 lbs the day I has surgery.  She explained when she saw the distress on my face.

I finally picked a day of the week to weigh in first thing in the morning and ONLY weighed in on that day.  I also had to go back on my anti-depressent because of all the "Changes" my body and mind were going through.  It's normal to feel the way you do and "freak" out every now and then... Heck I sat at my kitchen table one evening CRYING my eyes out because I wasn't hungry and I had to eat! LOL  Don't be surprised if that happens! LOL

Pammie you have a good head on your shoulder and you are using it.  I agree with Frankie about weighing in on one day only a week.  I catch myself now getting on the scales just about everyday and get upset because it say something different (higher) then it did yesterday.

When I went to see my PCP a few weeks ago, I told him that we needed to switch my sanity medicine because what I was on was not working anymore.  I do not think that my body was asborbing it.

Keep up the good work, and keep us posted.

Hugs

Pam,

The first year after WLS is challenging for anyone. If you have any pre-existing mood problems, that compounds it. Your body is changing faster than your mind can keep up with. Your mind is changing though too. You lose a long term coping mechanism. People start reacting to you and treating you differently. It's all alot to handle. On top of that, even if you were successfully on mood meds beforehand, you might be absorbing them differently now!!! I have a mood disorder, and had to be switched to some totally different meds to be effective post op. Some I don't seem to absorb at all anymore, some, it's like WOW, they knock me down for the count.

You can do this, though, we are walking the path with you. Get good supports IRL too though. If you don't have a counselor/therapist/psychologist I would get one. It will help to have someone to bounce these feelings off of and help keep you going.
