Thought maybe you guys could help....

I am not eating "meals" at all...and I just started protein yesterday.  I was able to choke down about 20 grams ...was up most of the night with gas and pains.

Today is a bit better, I have already gotten down 20 grams of protein and hopefully will get down another 20 later today.  I still can not force myself to eat food.  I have done some chicken broth, couple bits of sf pudding but that is it.  I am scared I am going to get malnutrioned (sp?)....

I am getting my vitamins, nexium, carafate and lovenox shots in.

I feel like I am doing pretty good with fluids (water only) b/c I urinate frequently and have 2 bm's.

Do you guys think I am on track or should I contact the nut?

Thanks,
Kim M.

Sounds like you are doing great and the best you can, which is all you can do!!!

I could not eat food for a few long time.  I remeber the Nut telling to to concentrate on the Protein and Liquids ( and vits of course).  Food will come when you are ready.  Try to get that protein up to the max you can.  My saving grace was the protein bullets from GNC.  I think they had like 60 grams in them.  I could no stomach the tase so I would add them to my water a little at a time.  The lemon lime was my fav.

Good Luck and hang in there!

I think it sounds like you are doing just fine!  One thing you can do that will help you out a bit is to make your protein shakes fit in at a time you would normally have a meal.  Then do your other fluids and such as often as you can in between.  The protein is full of nuitrition so your body is using that to maintain right now.  Protein also makes you feel full and i will help your mind think you are having meals at the right times.  Routine is key when you are early out.... developing a routine will serve you will when you do get to the point of eating meals.  But don't worry too much about the fact that they are not your typical meals meaning  "food".  Your protein and supplements are your meals right now.

I think you are doing great by the sounds of it.

Oh, and as for the gas.... get GasX strips.  They dissolve on your tongue so you dont have to put anything in your tiny pouch.  They will help with the gas pain and nausea that you are experiencing from your surgery and from the protein.

Huge hugs,
Keep it up!
