I am having surgery on tuesday at St. V's anyone else? I know of a couple people having it the next day but so far no one on tuesday. Any last words of advice. Anything I definitely need at the hospital or when I get home. Thanks everyone for all the advice so far.

Have some tylenol handy for when you get home.  I didn't have any and had to send my mom out for some.  I used a baby spoon, and sippy cup for the first month or so.  I also used ice cube trays to feeze my left over broth and refried bean in ..once cube is just about a perfect ounce and it was way better than tossing the leftovers since there was so much.  A few protein samples,, sometimes vitamin shoppe has some samples.

Good Luck to you and my prayers are with you and your surgeon.

My Dr prescribed Lortab Elixer to have on hand for when I get home :-)

Good luck.  Take something comfy for you to wear home and comfy study shoes to do you laps around the floor before you leave.

I was also prescribed the loratab but it made me extremely nausiated, so Tylenol is what I chose to use.  I am not one to take a narcotic unless I am in extreme pain and honestly Tylenol controled my pain.  Since it is best for you to get up and move around Tylenol is a good choice for the daytime if it controls your pain well enough.

Jeannie-  This is good to know.  I did express concern about Vicodin typically making me naseous but was assuired that lortab is a slightly different formulation.  I will get some tylenol to keep at home too.  I with they made adult dose in liquid.  I have surgery on Wednesday...

Thanks for the advice everyone. Stacy I will definitely text you. I was told we can't use cell phones in our room at St. V's because telemetry is close by. Does anyone know if texting is the same thing as calling out. Could I text from my room? I will get some tylenol for when I get home. Do they have liquid adult or chewable adult or the right size of tylenol.

Thanks so much

That's weird about the cell phones.  Clarian encourages you to bring cell phones and even put in the presurgery paperwork "don't forget the charger".

Stacy I had never taken Loratab before but like you have had not so nice reactions to the vicodin and low and behold the reaction to the Loratab was just the same.  I think it was exaggerated also by my new tummy and sorta being nauseated anyway.

Adult Tylenol is only available in pill form, I took the pills in the hospital with my surgeons approval.  I think the thought that we can't swallow pills after surgery is way over rated.  I took the petitie calcium and tylenols since day 5 of surgery.  You just have to be careful how much water you are using to wash them down.  I just put the pills at the back of my throat and then took a sip of water and washed them down.  Talk to your surgeon about this before surgery or before you leave the hospital and see what he suggests for you, I would never advise you to do something against his/her wishes.  Don't try to take the childrens tylenol or the chewables they have sugars.

I will be praying for you girls, I had kind of forgotten all my pre surgery fears and concerns, its nice to be reminded of where I came from.   You guys are gonna do great, you will be so glad this is the choice you made for yourselves and I can't wait to watch as you progress through your journey.  Don't forget about the dreeded 2 week stall, it likely will happen, your body is healing, your surgery isn't broke.  Also you will be moody and weepy for a couple months after surgery, the sudden weight loss and trama from surgery wrecks havoc on your hormones, so warn your family to bear with you its temporary lol.

Love and Peace to you ladies.
