My husband wants to divorce me just so I can go on welfare.  He said it will pay for rent, medical, and food.  He said do that or he will leave me.  Isn't that illegal?  I question how much love he has for me if he expects me to break a law (if I am breaking a law).  He said getting a job is not enough. What do you all think? he said we will still live together.  I don't think my conscience will not allow this to happen.

This is illegal, and honestly not the way welfare works at all....

If your husband is the father of your children the welfare department will sue him to refund the money they give you so sorta blows that theory.  It is also very illegal and  immoral.  I would seek counceling to see if there is a bigger issue here.

Everybody else is right here. It is illegal, that's not how welfare etc works, and wow... what a dick! Pardon my french.

I'd divorce him, kick his butt out, get a job, and THEN sue him for child support and alimony. See how he likes that!  (that assuming I didn't kill him for even suggesting such a bogus scheme)
