i need some more advice....please??? i will be ten days out tomorrow
tomorrow my son has to go get a colonostomy and an endoscope(for his gardner's syndrome)....
he and i have a ritual...he has to fast for 2 1/2 days prior to his test(s) and when his tests are all done and we leave the hospital he gets to pick his favorite restaurant (usually don pablos)...
this is an all day event...we leave @ 5am and usually get home about 6-7pm...so i will be packing my lunch, protein and snack...
but any suggestions on how i handle the restaurant portion???  i dont wanna break our ritual and deprive my son of his outing and want to enjoy the time with him (he's 18 and rarely spends time w. momma these days and understands the whole rny thing)...soooooooo do i take my own food in???? do i question them about items on the menu??(@ this stage i can have ff refried beans..but i KNOW theres are not FF)
help???
any suggestions???
clueless
hugs

Every doctor and nut has different advise so you might call your nut for some advise.  We have found there are several things you can do.  One thing I have done is order soup (broth only).  I got some strage looks but they always did it.  If you can have them, order plain mashed potatos.  Take a scoop of protien powder from home to add to them so they are not just carbs.  Cottage cheese might be an option too if it's a place that would have some.  If you don't think any of that will work, then take your own food or just order a drink and eat your meal before or after.

Good luck.
