Lots of questions on Deaconess Weight Loss in Evansville, IN

Okay, I have not posted very much! I have gone through my supervised weight loss sessions and completed all that was necessary for insurance coverage.  I was told that DWL center would send my letter of medical necessity to my insurance on September 15.  Now, I guess it is just a waiting game.

Does anyone know what I should expect from this point? Does anyone know how long it takes from final approval and surgery date?

Any info would be helpful.

Thanks

I think it just depends on your insurance company.  I am going through St. Marys, but I did talk to Deaconess also.  I met my insurance approval on August 4, my paperwork was submitted that day (or next?) and approval came back in 2 days.  I saw surgeon August 17, and surgery was set for September 28.  They told me to expect longer for approval though.  I hope yours come back asap for you also.  Good luck!

Hi
I am also going through St Mary's but the process is pretty much the same. I applied for insurance approval the first week of August as well. Had approval within 3 days. Saw Dr Throop mid August and my surgery is schedulued for Sept 30.
I still had a couple of classes to attend and have finished those.
I guess by now you have probably heard from your insurance and are waiting to see Dr Haughn. I guess the one thing I wasn't expecting was the part of the surgeons fee that I had to pay upfront.
When you go to Evansville Surgical Associates to schedule your surgery they will tell you what the fee for the surgeon and assistant is  that your insurance doesn't cover. For me that fee was to be paid 2 weeks preop.
Good luck with your surgery!

Thanks so much for your feedback. I never heard anything from the Insurance. I had my regular appointment today, Oct. 5. They were missing some paper work, EKG Results. So, I had them faxed today. Ugh!!! Now it is the insurance waiting game.

Hopefully you shouldn't have to wait long for your insurance now.  They will schedule you to see Dr. Haughn as soon as Insurance comes back in - BTW, if I remember right, that appointment is a long one - 2-3 hours.  You see the dietitian again, Dr. Haughn and then schedule your surgery and yes you will be expected to pay your portion of surgery cost.

Your surgery date will depend on when you can get in and he has openings.  I was lucky, I only waited 16 days from my appointment with Dr. Burry to my surgery date -  but I also had the RNY (more people are having lap-band now and a little longer wait).

Good luck - I hope this helps.
