A ? for those of you who have had plastics
Last time I seen my surgeon he mentioned that he was ready to refer me to a plastic surgeon if I was ready. At that point the thought had barely crossed my mind, as I was thinking I would need to be to goal. Since then my belly or panni area has really bothered me, I can't stand to look at it so I made an appointment for a consult this coming Monday. Now I wonder if it is just too soon to bother.
I am 15 months post op and weigh 165 pounds, I have weighed that for three months, I seem to be stuck here. My goal is somewhere around 148 "normal" range. My surgeon said they should remove about ten pounds of skin from my belly, and that would put me pretty close to goal.
For those of you who have had panni removal or tummy tucks, at what stage did you do it? If I lose an additional ten pounds or so after plastics will it leave me with some sag again or is that not enough to even worry about? I know I will only have one chance, so I want to make the decision with my brain and not my heart.

33 lbs lost prior to surgery!
Jeannie,
I went after I held the same weight for over a year. I kept hoping to lose that 10 more pounds first. I would actually be a horrible one to ask when it comes to sagging or anything since I've had all these problems. I don't have any sagging because of all the pooching from the hernias.
After surgery though, you tend to lose a few more pounds than just the skin that is removed. Don't be surprised though if you don't relax and gain a few back.
I went to Dr. Bergman for mine. She is fantastic. You might want to consider her. Her office will do all they can to be sure insurance picks up as much of the tab as possible too.

I haven't had anything done yet. I am also thinking of looking into a lower body lift and tummy tuck. Have just started my research but I think I will try to schedule a consult before the end of the year. Let me know who you are going to and what you thought of him/her. I have contacted Sando, Jones and Akers but haven't scheduled anything yet.
Good Luck

At your weight I don't think you will have to worry about sagging skin following the procedure if you were to lose more weight. Dr. Bergman (who I would recommend in a heartbeat) pulled my tummy tight. I'd have to gain a significant amount, stretch the skin out, and then lose it all before I saw any more hanging belly.
Dr. B is very caring, professional and an ARTIST of the highest magnitude. She won't tell you what she thinks is beautiful, she will ask you what you think is beautiful then she'll give you what you want.
