Welcome to the OH IN board, great to have ya!. This site is truely a blessing..one word of caution though....ADDICTION, its very addicting. The first thing I do after my shower daily is read OH lol. You will learn a lot here and hear a lot of pro's and con's so that you can make an informed decision and if you decide to have surgery you will be armed with a great education. When I had surgery a year ago I sure felt blessed to have learned so much here beforehand.

Welcome to the Indiana board. If you have questions, please feel free to ask them. Chances are great that someone else out there is wondering about the same thing so you won't only be helping yourself out, but most likely at LEAST one other person as well.
Unfortunately, you usually just hear about the bad online. People who are doing good and not having any problems are too busy having fun and enjoying life. So...if you see 10 people on here that are having problems, there are 100 or so who are doing fantastic. And when you do read about those 10, keep in mind that there is other things that can cause those problems than just weight loss surgery.
I'm kinda the poster child here for complications...but most of them are just how my dang body reacts to things. None of them has been a directly caused from my RNY. One could argue that all the strictures (blockages) of my stoma (where they reconnect your intestines to your new pouch...small stomach) was..but really, with that too, it was just my dang body trying to 'heal' that opening by trying to grow scar tissue over it. Since that time period, I've had issues with scar tissue growing abnormally in three other places of my body as well (including my toes!).
So..when you hear the bad, keep all of that in mind. Also keep in mind that when we had the weight loss surgery (WLS), we were obese..and obesity itself causes a multitude of problems. For the super obese/morbid obese/obese, alot of the serious complications that happen post-op are more related to the stress that the weight put on the body's parts (organs, joints, etc) than from the WLS itself.
Welcome....

I started iwith the orientation in late January or early February, and had my last appt. (met insurance requirements) on August 4. I saw Dr. Throop on August 17 and got scheduled for September 28th. I was pre-warned that it would probably be a couple months later, but somehow they had an opening and I grabbed it. Everyone there has been so nice to me - I was afraid of the usual looks - stare at the fat person thing, but they have all be great. I am getting nervous, but I am ready too.

Welcome!
I can only speak for myself but the choice to have WLS was the best one in my life. I am three months out and feel better than I have felt in years. It was my chance to be good to myself! The horror stories are just that...
I struggled with weight from high school until now and it has been a journey that took its toll on my body. I couldnt hardly move much less enjoy life. Now I can dance again, walk fast, and all without getting short of breath and having to rest.
Make informed choices for yourself and get on here as much as you can and look around. The people here are wonderful and very helpful!
Good luck with your journey!
