I am in Danville, about 10 minutes from Plainfield. From what I know, they have good schools. We love the Danville school system and wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Brand spankin' new high school.  Great shopping.  Nice hometown feel.  I'm also in Danville, if you prefer a small town (think Mayberry) look in Danville.

I can eat as much as I want...I just don't want much.
I'm ashamed of what I did for a Klondike bar...

We live in Plainfield/Camby area. my son has gone to Plainfield since 2 second grade ( he is now a junior) I Love the Plainfield School Sysytem. It is always continuously 4 stars rated and not just the HIgh school...all the schools.
Our High School is 2 years old and Beautiful. Its has grown alot since we moved to PLAINFIELD 9 years ago. I love it. We purposely bought our house in the school district. though we live in Heartland crossing we live In Hendricks county. Property taxes are much lower than Marion and Morgan Because of the Business/warehouse park there in Plainfield. Properties in general are a little more but I would rather that than live in Indy or Mooresville. Though i work in Mooresville and love it, I like Plainfiled more.

I also live in the Plainfield area. We have a Plainfield address but we actually are right on the dividing line with Avon. My boys go to Avon Schools. These schools are very good! They are 4 star schools and the staff are so friendly. You truly know your kids are being treated as individuals. When you visit the school all the kids seem to be having fun but yet the learning environment is awesome. Another plus is it is very close to the Indianapolis Airport although not so close for noise.  It is within a few minutes of I-465, I-65, I-70, I-74 so travel is especially easy. If you enjoy going to some bigger city attractions, downtown Indianapolis is also just 20 minutes with traffic. The new Colts Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis Indians Baseball Field, Indianapolis Zoo, Indianapolis 500 Race Track, Indianapolis Museum of Art. are just a few of the many attractions right in your backyard. You can visit downtown and walk along the canal or rent paddle boats. The Soldiers and Sailors Monument sits right in the middle of a huge roundabout located in the center of downtown. It becomes a huge Christmas tree with thousands of lights during the holiday season. There are horse drawn carriage rides that you can ride around the streets of the downtown area. Your family will have the opportunity to see several different parades throughout the year complete with floats, bands and sometimes well known celebrities. There is an IMAX theater along the canal. There are several different museums located there as well.

The Metropolis Mall located right on US-40  in Plainfield also has a very nice theater with huge digital screens and soundtracks. It offers probably 10 different movies. The outdoor mall has a variety of shopping. There is a commons area where there are water fountains that the kids enjoy playing around. There  frequently is some type of event going on. The Hendricks County area offers Farmers Markets almost daily, many different festivals and such. We have most of the popular food chains and there are numerous grocery store including a Super Walmart in Plainfield. On the Avon side there is also a Super Target and Meijers.

There is a lot of new construction in the area, new homes everywhere in different price ranges, Of course, there are also the nice, older homes with character and charm. We have access to many doctors including quite a few specialist. There are several nice Churches in the area that do a lot of community stuff. There is one church in particular that has a huge, very well attended VBS in the summer. This same church has a very well attended basketball thing for kids. It is open to the public. There are literally hundreds of kids that participate. It runs all winter with practice once a week for each team and then they play two teams at a time every Friday night and all day on Saturday. Much bigger than I have seen at any boys or girls club.  Another church operates a health clinic with a sliding fee scale. They just expanded into a new facility and is supported in part by the area hospital.

The water park mentioned by someone else is very nice. It is actually an indoor/outdoor water park. as well as recreation/ fitness center. Residents of Plainfield get a special rate. Avon is just breaking ground for a new YMCA that is partnering with the hospital to be a huge wellness center. Someone also mentioned the walking trails. These also are new. They are being paved along an old train route. Many of the subdivisions also have walking trails. The one I live in has a 4 mile long trail as well as tennis courts, basketball courts,  tennis courts, softball fields, a swimming pool, a playground with nice equipment and a shelter house. It is actually surrounded by corn and soybean fields.  We have several nice parks in the area. Also Eagle Creek Reservoir State Park is approximately 25 minutes away. The schools offer water aerobics to the public as well so there really is no reason why any of us should not be active. The opportunity is here. We also have a Bariatric support group of an average 40 - 50 people, that meets once a month right in Plainfield. We have two Bariatic Centers within 30 - 45 minute driving distance.

The area also has a very low crime rate. I know I have given a lot of info but I know how I felt when we moved. It was hard to find much info online. or at least I wasn't really sure how much was really in the actual area we were moving to. Understand that the actual downtown of Plainfield is small with one main street going down the middle with a few side streets. The main street is actually US 40 and your shopping and such is actually located just outside of town. The "downtown' area has just a few little mom & pop type stores, a small but popular bakery, a Dairy Queen, and I believe a small pizza place. I know one bank, maybe two. An old theater that I don't believe is still used for anything and a funeral home. Get the picture? But the location to everything else is great. The water park sits just out of the downtown area with a semi rural type area behind it. There is also a new library. The post office is small but easy to get in and out of once you find it. The license branch sits in a small building behind the post office. Both are down a quiet side street. The license branch you would probably not see at all if no one gave you directions but the service is great. I got my license renewed a few days ago and my receipt said I was there a total of 11 minutes. Not bad! Plainfield is a friendly, small town and it's location makes it really a great place to live. Please contact me if you decide to move so I can maybe call and give a welcome.
