felt like lead

Tonight at work, I assisted with xray. I had to wear a lead apron for about twenty minutes. I got tired with it on, my legs hurt and then my back. It sure felt good to take it off. I asked how much the apron weighed, fifty lbs.. Wow! this is what I felt like when I was fifty lbs. heavier! What an enlightened moment. From now on when I get discouraged I am going to hold something equal to my weight loss! It sure reminded me of why I went through all this! Wendy

Wendy, funny you should bring that up.  I was just thinking my son weighs 124 pounds, about what I have lost so far.  I can't imagine the stress I put on my body carrying his equivalent around 24/7.

Wendy, it was probably more like 20lbs.  They don't even make them with actual led in them anymore.  It's kind of a barium material now to lighten the weight.  I've worked in Xray for 22 years so I know how heavy those things can be.  They can really get old...especially if you're wearing one in a long surgery case and standing the entire time.  Anyway, given that it was probably less than say 25lbs and you know how heavy that felt and it's toll it took on you, just imagine what 50lbs would have been.  I can't imagine walking around with an extra 120lbs on my body!  Congratulations on your success.

I run for those who can't or won't.  I run because I once was one of those people.

120 pounds = 3 bags of water softener salt.  Grab three of those puppies next time you're in WalMart and try to carry them around.

I can eat as much as I want...I just don't want much.
I'm ashamed of what I did for a Klondike bar...

I was in the gym and loaded up a bar with 120lbs and lifted it.  I thought my eyeballs were going to come out of their sockets!!!!  I really don't know how I carried all of that weight and did what I did on a daily basis.  I did have more muscle mass then.....but still........seriously!
