Self Pay
Just curious...I would like to have WLS, however, the government entity that I work for has an exclusion written into the policy for WLS. So, the only way that I will be able to have the surgery is to self pay. Just curious if any has self payed, what it cost and how you ended up paying it. loans or just saved...just curious.
I was fortunate enough to have insurance to pay for the biggest part of my surgery, with the exception of copays. However, we do have a medical credit card that we got a year or two ago when my hubby needed some substantial dental work done. The interest rates are quite reasonable compared to conventional credit cards and approval was quick, we applied online and were approved in just a few minutes.

I financed my surgery. We're in the same boat as my job had an exclusion on the policy. If you do a google search you can find a list of a medical lending institutions... I did not expect to be approved because my credit sucks and was shocked when I was.
I'm going to Kentucky for the surgery because I'm having the DS and the surgeon there was cheaper, could get me in faster and may be able to do it laprospocipally and had more experience with the DS over the surgeon here (I have nothing against Dr. Inman I liked her a lot but that choice made more sense for me)
So my biggest advice, secure financing than look around and do not limit yourself to Indy. Find a surgeon you are comfortable with first and foremost though.
