Well I am 2 weeks out  today, I am doing okay I guess.  No real complications (knock on wood).  I am still very tired and am still have pain in my belly on the left side and some sharp pains usually if I get up too fast around my belly button.  When do you really start feeling better?  Everyone keeps telling me it has only been 2 weeks but I am ready to be feeling better but my body and my head aren't on the same page.  Is this normal?

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...  It's about learning to dance in the rain!

It's totally normal hon.  The left side pain is because the incision on that side (if you had laparoscopic) is the biggest one where the instruments go in.

I had the left side pain off and on for 3 or 4 weeks.  You should start feeling better day by day.  I'll tell you again - it's only been 2 weeks.  You had major surgery.  The effects of the anesthetic itself takes a while to get out of your system.

We always think that we should recover so quickly - the truth of the matter is that this was major, and it takes a little while for your body to adjust.  Relax - you're doing fine!  Just remember to do your best to get your protein and fluids in and you'll be running around in no time!

Congrats to you!  I'm a week out today!  My pain is on the left side by the biggest incision too.  I almost cried last night trying to get out of bed at 3 in the morning to take some pain pills.  That was the first night I tried sleeping in the bed and it is back to the couch for me for awhile.  I'm really tired too.  Taking a shower just seems to wipe me out.  Good luck and feel better soon!  I hope I do too!

Listen to your body, not your head.  I am 5 weeks out from my revision and I have been having a lot of pain on the left side, and I figured it out.  I was over doing things.  I went to the gym Monday night and was at the ER Tuesday night because I hurt so bad.  Grant you I had a UTI but I do not beleive that is where my pain was coming from.  I was feeling much better Thursday so I went and picked green beans for 3 hours and Friday I hurt so bad.

You will start feeling much better, it takes times.

Hugs

Yes, its very normal. What ever one kept telling me was that I had major surgery and it would take awhile. I hated those sharp pains on my left side and they seemed to last for weeks. They can get quite scary sometimes but, it is all part of your journey. Now, as far as energy... I may not be a good one to talk to because I didn't start getting energy bac****il I was about 6-7 months. I couldn't believe it and thought that something could have been wrong but, it did take me that long. Some people don't suffer nearly that long with "lack of energy" but, I did. I also didn't do anything to help that by trying to exercise or making myself move. I swear I just couldn't! I got back to work after a week off and when I would get home at the end of the day, I would just be exausted. Now at over a year out, I feel wonderful most of the time and my blood levels are perfect. So, you see... it is a long journey so, listen to your body and talk to your doctor and you will be just fine.
Take care!!
Be Well  : )
