Does anybody know or have info. on where you can have your body fat percentage calculated?  I know that there are several methods to do this but I'm looking for the water submersion method.  Thanks for any help.

While probably not the most accurate...many bathroom scales will do this now.  I got mine at Dick's Sporting Goods.

Annette, thanks but I'm only interested in the water submersion method.  It's the most accurate method.  I know there are the scales, calipers, and even Dexascan for bone density but the most accurate is the water method.

I want to use body fat percentage to determine my ideal body weight.  BMI will not work for me as I carry too much muscle for it to be accurate.
Thanks,
Duane

Try some of your local fitness centers.  Maybe nothing in your area so try Indy.

I was wondering about trying IU or IUPUI.  I would think that they would have something in their Physiology/Knesiology Dept.

Duane, I don't know. But would love to know where you find it when you do. I'd love the most accurate measurement I can get. My gym trainers do it with that little hand held device, but I don't understand how it can be completly accuate.

I found my answer!!!!  The National Institute for Fitness and Sport located on the IUPUI Campus has the Bod Pod.  It does not use water, it uses air.  The following was taken from the web site.

How accurate is it?

It is as accurate as the gold standard method of underwater weighing. It can measure your percentage of body fat within 1% to 2.7% of your actual percentage body fat. Not only is it highly accurate, it is highly sensitive to even small changes in body composition. This makes it ideal for tracking changes in body composition in as little as four to eight weeks. Skinfolds and other less-accurate methods require up to several months to track changes.

The cost is $45.00 for one session or $80.00 for two sessions. Here is the link for the web site.
