Smells

Does anyone else have trouble with smells.  I did not have this problem with my orignal surgery, but I am having trouble with alot of smells, and some are good because the smell of sweets make me sick at my stomach.

Examples: I was walking through Mjeirs about 3 weeks ago and I walked past the bakery and I almost  in the produce aisles.  I walk in Krogers over the weekend and I have no idea but there was a smell that just made my stomach start doing flip-flops.  My daughter opened a bag of skittles on the way home from KY Sunday and I was hanging my head out the window.  I am so sensitive to all smells.  Thank God I have not got  yet and hopefully will not because I do not want to tear anything.  I am glad that the sweet are making me not think about them, but I don't know how I am going to handle having an upset stomach all day.

Peggy, I went thru that too.  It was mainly while I was in Ketosis.  But the way I handled it was with SF gum.  I know some people wont and dont chew gum but it really helps to dull the sense of smell.

Gas x strips keep me from being nauseated so you might try them too.

Love ya and you are doing great!

Huge hugs,
Tracy

Peggy for a bit after surgery I was ultra sensitive to smells.  I was told it was from the anesthesia.  Hopefully that is what it is for you too and it will pass with a lil time.

Another trick to help with smells is to carry a nice smelling small handlotion with you, when you encounter a bad or nausous smell just rub a little handlotion under your nose. Wendy

Peggy,
I am 3 1/2 years out and my husband says I have a bionic nose!! lo I smell everything!! l am always a few minutes ahead of him in sniffing something. I am used to it now and it doesn't make me sick only we laugh about it as if I say I smell something he knows he will too in a few minutes.. lol
Hugs!

I always know when the Halloween candy hits the shelves because I can smell the candy corn when I walk in the door.  One of the things that always makes me sick is honey and that's one of the main ingredients in candy corn.  I think it's nature's way of keeping us from eating something that isn't good for us now.

I can eat as much as I want...I just don't want much.
I'm ashamed of what I did for a Klondike bar...
