RE: Prayer Request
There are 2 people from Rochester that need our prayers and support. Carole Dale and her daughter, Elizabeth attend the Kokomo support groups. (Elizabeth has also had RNY by Dr. Huse). Carole had her RNY Feb 5 by Dr. Huse. She did fine. Feb 12 she was rushed back into surgery. A hernia strangled her bowel. She developed sepsis--poisoning in her bloodstream. This had nothing to do with her RNY.
She has been in ICU room 7 ever since. She is on dialysis every day to clean the toxins out of her bloodstream. She is a very courageous woman, 56, with lots of fight in her. She was working hard to stay off the respirator. 4 hours on oxygen mask with her levels at 94 and 4 hours on bi-pap around the clock. If she couldn't do this, she would have to go back on the respirator.
Her sister, Sandy, who also had RNY, had her smiling a big smile and you could see her beautiful green eyes. She was exercising her finger and toes by wiggling them for us.
Feb 21 she coded and had to be put back on the respirator. Very disheartening but she is still with us and fighting. When I went to see her, with the respirator in and the dialysis going, she looked at me and voluntarily wiggled her fingers and toes. It was the most precious thing I have ever seen in my life. These precious people inspire me and give me so much more than I could possibly try to give them.
They have run all kinds of tests on her and she is healing well from her surgeries and her urine output is good. On Feb 26 they put in a trach so she is improving slowly day by day.
Elizabeth called me last night. This is her only living parent. Her mom lives with her. Their bond is so close and loving. Elizabeth is terrified of losing her mom. She has rarely left her side. She has not been back to her home or job in Rochester since Feb 12, when her mom was brought to ICU. She is basically camping out in ICU.
I have offered my place for her to crash and shower and her Aunt Sandy lives in Sharpsville. She has stayed there a couple times but prefers to stay with her mom. Her dh comes back and forth and brings her clothes and food.
Any way that you can provide prayers and support to Carole and Elizabeth would be appreciated.
hugs,
Kathy

This kinda freaked me out reading. It was just a little too close to home for me. I do pray that Carole bounces back quickly and with no future complications. Did they put her on Zygris? It is suppose to be wonderful for sepsis. Is she at St. Vincent (Carmel)? Or???
If you could put her room #, full name, etc on the board, I'd appreciate it. If I don't get a chance to go see her, I'd like to at least send her a card.

Yes, they did put her on Zygris. And yes she is in ICU room #7 at St. V's in Carmel. Her name is Carole Dale. I will be going to see her tomarrow and can post an update Wed. morning.
It has also rekindled my memories of intestinal complications that almost took my life but God spared me. I would have left behind my 2 little boys, 4 & 7. They were worth fighting for. But my physical health continued to decline steadily over the years and my body weight increased steadily. I am on my third life now, life after WLS. I refuse to let the battle scars of my past define my future. Many of my battles have been hard but I'm still here, and I work really hard to find something positive in anything negative.
Thanks for the prayers. You get some rest.
