supervised wt. loss
My insurance required 6 consecutive months of supervised visits - so I had to go to 7 of them total. I also had to call my insurance EVERY time i got an EOB and remind them my surgery was covered and the trips for supervised weight loss were required by them...so they would pay for it.
These visits were worth the $20 copay because something clicked with Dr. Brooks (Gomez took her place) and I lost 52 lbs BEFORE the surgery, It was partly what I needed to get my mind/body ready for surgery and then I continued to loose right up until the day I had surgery. You don't HAVE to go to Dr. Gomez, if you want your family doctor was weigh you monthly BUT you do have to show your insurance you are following a diet plan AND you ARE loosing weight. NO weight loss may mean no surgery. If your PCP hasn't helped you loose weight up until now then I would go to someone else.
Best of luck to you!
