Okay..just got back from the hemophilia center. What can I say except what a day! For starters, my appointment was suppose to have been NEXT Tuesday. I asked them to PLEASE try to fit me in today seeing how surgery was postponed because of this. So...we had to go back at 2 (which gave us time to go check out Famous Dave's....yumm!)  After talking with 4 people and all of them discussing me thoroughly and checking all the lab results that St. V's has in their system for me...and checking side effects/complications from every procedure and meds that I have had...here is what they THINK is going on. They think that the white cell count was low because of ...get this...the COUMADIN!! It is listed as a possible side effect but no one at the hemophilia center has EVER had a patient that actually had this as a side effect to their knowledge. Key words..to their knowledge. It's not like they get alot of patients on coumadin that has a CBC panel drawn because of going into surgery. Usually, they get patients that are put on coumadin because of getting blood clots following a surgery...not both (like me). But...leave it to me to be their first! So...it takes 10 days for coumadin to get out of your system. My results at Seton was 3.5 (4.0 is 'normal') which Dr. Greist would be more than ok with giving the thumbs up for. On the 10th, it was 2.5. The 16th was the last day on the coumadin...5 days later, the results went up to 2.9. They had blood drawn (which took 4 sticks!!). They are expecting to see another increase from yesterdays results. Dr. Greist is also going to be looking at my blood under a microscope so she can say with more certainty of what is going on. If that looks ok and the results improve... she'll be calling me tomorrow and let me know...but she will contact Dr. Bergman & Dr. Gupta and give them the green light to reschedule, next week if possible (since I'll be staying off the coumadin all this time). I would guess that they'll probably have me go get blood drawn again on Saturday since it will be 10 days then since I've had any coumadin. The results should be back to MY norm by then.  Dr. Greist did say that she thought I would have probably been fine having the surgery yesterday but since she can guarantee what effect surgery itself would have done to my white count, it's probably best that they waited. She also said that I had more than enough white cells to keep me healthy.  Okay....so..a Last Supper. I've heard from others that the oriental buffet sounded pretty good to them too. Once the surgery is rescheduled, I'll post about it. If they have it next week, let's make it Saturday night. More people would be able to make it on the weekend because of their work schedules. Besides, they only have crab legs on the buffet on Friday & Saturdays...gotta have crab! LOL!! Thank you everyone for all your prayers & support. I really don't know what I'd do without you! Gail, Oh no babycakes...on oddities, there is definately more than one queen here! LOL! Most people have ~3 endoscopies if they have any...me? 15! It finally got under control by steroids being injected into the stoma durring the last few endoscopies. Rarely does anyone ever have a problem with an endoscopy...me? I've had balloons to break and perforated twice (and ended up having to have a revision because of it). And my medical issues doesn't stop with my RNY. I couldn't even go into menopause without getting a rare condition (luichen schlurosis)! How completely nuts is that??? And allergies...oh am I goodie for those! I'm allergic to NOVACAINE! That makes going to the dentist a real joy. Numbing agents have one of the strains of 'caines' in most of them...most of which, I'm also allergic to.  I carry a card in my wallet of which 'caine' I CAN have. I'm also allergic to the cephlasporins (ceclor, keflex)...but I was ok to work with it (testing it in a lab). I found out with my plastics that I'm allergic to steri-stips..they caused blisters all down my legs. The tape for the wound-vac also gave me blisters on  my belly.  Remember when we were young and nothing bothered us???? What in the world happened to those days? While the lab tech was trying to draw my blood today, it struck me...gosh! I'm getting OLD! I'm 46...I remember when my mom was 46 and me thinking SHE was old!! I sure hope you can make it Saturday! It'd be terrific seeing you again! Sherri

Oh honey, I'll let you be a Queen too! There's no reason why there just have to be one...although, I do hope your problems are in the past! Now Misty on the other hand, as young as she is...she just gets a princess tiara for now! But this is for all of us who have the doctors going  that they may NEVER completely go  and cause us to be true .... you aren't alone in this crazy medical world! ..Others are waiting to have an odd condition named after them too!  and new doctors will forever hear your name  from their teachers...The Sherri condition occurs when a patient does what they are told  drinks what they are told  sleeps as much as they're told and yet, their body does not react as IT is told ! The Sherri condition is often referred to as LIFE HAPPENS Condition, thus coined by who else but... Sherri! Many huggs! Sherri
