I'm new & having lap band

Hello! My name is Angie. I am 39 yrs old and going to have lap band done on March 21st by Dr. Christopher Evanson. Does anyone know what Dr. Evanson's pre-op diet is like for this operation? I am just curious if I will have to be on a liquid diet for 10 days like some docs require.

Hi Angie! Welcome to the board. There are several here that had Dr. E so I'm sure someone will reply to your question. I heard that the St. V's Bariatrics (which Dr. E is a part of) is in the process of changing some of their nutritional guidelines. I don't know if that is pre-op as well as post or just post. So..what someone may tell you may not be how it is now. Have you had your consult yet? If not, ask at it. If so, give his nurse a call and pick her brain. Again, Welcome! Sherri

I have had my consult, psych eval, and am sceduled for surgery on March 21st. My nutrition class is on March 7th. I know that they will tell me then. Thanks for the warm welcome!

Hi Angie, Dr. Evanson did my lap-band, and you're in great hands.  There was no special pre-op diet other than nothing after midnight the night before.  Of course, he doesn't want you to go crazy before surgery, that won't help you.  But nothing like the liquid or other monitored diets that you may have read about on the lap-band support board.  I just had my first fill a week ago and it was a breeze.  Good luck!! I didn't have your doctor but I wanted to say hi to a fellow Hoosier bandster.  I was banded on 12/26/07 by Dr Cacucci at St. Vincents.  I didn't have to follow any special pre-op diet.  Just nothing by mouth midnight the night before..  Welcome to the message board!  These folks are great!  They have really helped me so much I can't tell you!  Good luck with your upcoming surgery!  I am sure you will do great!
