Wow...I'm sorry to hear that. I had not had a period for many years (early menopause) and then had a period after RNY surgery. It was short and I have not had one since. I wish I could be of help...... but my heart goes out to her and I believe that someone on the board will have an answer. Make sure you post on the RNY and even the main board for more exposure and possible resolutions. She is in my prayers for speedy health and a wise doctor.

As we lose weight, our hormones can change quite abit. Just look at all the oops pregnancies with post-ops (several here on this board even). A gyn can test her hormone levels to see if they are all within range of where they should be.
Our bodies may also react differently to birth control...especially pills. If your wife is on the pill, she may want to inquire about the shot or other form of birth control. We don't always asorb things the same way as we did pre-op. It doesn't hurt trying out another method to see if it helps. Either way, I would recommend using an alternative/additional method until you are secure in knowing that whatever method that is being used is still as effective as it was.
Good luck and I do hope you wife gets the answers she's needing.

My first period post op was one of the most awful cycles I've ever had it lasted forever and was just painful... The other 3 have been okay and semi normal. If they don't come up with something soon sometimes giving her Provera will stop a period (just like it brings it on in some people).. Sorry I don't have more answers.
