Hi everyone.  I just wanted to introduce myself.  I'm Nikki from Connersville and I'm having surgery on Feb 11th.  I'm typically a very shy, quiet person but as I read each of the messages on this board I find myself wanting to talk with each of you about your experiences.  I met Sweet Sherri and she told me to find this Indiana board to introduce myself, so here I am.   I've really enjoyed snooping around your blogs and profiles and I've learned so much more from each of you than I ever would have from a book.  So, thank you all for being so open and honest about your journeys.  I look forward to getting to know each of you better!

Nikki, Welcome.  Glad you decided to introduce yourself so we can get to know you.  This board, as you have already found out, is a great place for information and for support.  Congratulations on your upcoming surgery.  I am excited for you.  I had surgery 5/11/07 and am so thankful to be healthy again.  I have been fortunate to have no complications and I feel absolutely great.  I am sure you will do great as well.  Just carefully follow the directions your surgeon and nutritionist give you.  It is so important to follow the rules.  Peg

Nikki, I'm so glad you found us here! I'm even happier that you decided to introduce yourself so we can all get to know you. Feel free to join in on anything and everything. Conversations, chats (there's a chatroom here..look on the list of things to the left of this post. If someone is going to be in there, they usually post here on the board what time they plan to be there...otherwise, it's a pretty empty chatroom), posts, whatever! Everyone is welcome!  Feel free to join in on things that we have 'off the net' as well!! We have clothing exchanges about every 3 months (next one is in April...there will be LOTS of posts about it as the time gets closer). We have get togethers that we are trying to have them be 'anual' things. For instance, we just had our 3rd anual Ornament exchange this past December and I'm hoping I feel well enough to be able to have the 3rd anual Hot Tub & Tea party in Feb/March. In 2007, we had our first pool party and our first camp-out...both, everyone had a blast at so just may be having the 2nd anual's of each of those in 2008! In addition to those activities, we also have impromptu get togethers at restaurants, etc once a month or so...if not more often. You are welcome to join in on any and all of these! They are all for pre and post-ops! Spouses/bf/gf are welcome at all of them as well. Some may not be appropriate for kids (like the hot tub party or ornament exchange) but others, kids would enjoy as well (pool party). If you have kids, use your own discretion with the age(s) of them on if the activity would be a good fit or not...if in doubt, you can always send the host/hostess a note and ask them wha they think.  You know...I think I need to pop a note to someone over at OH (ObesityHelp) and ask them to put what I just said on our forum page! LOL! It'd keep me from retyping it so much..haha!!  You are VERY welcome to our board! If there is anything we can do to help you on your journey to the inner you, just let us know! Sherri ps....We are getting together at Ryan's on Shadeland (just south of 10th street on the east side of the road, across from Eastgate Crystler) at 5 pm tonight. You are welcome to join us!

Hi, Nikki, and welcome aboard. You are always more than welcome to come in and join us anytime you want to. We always love new friends and family here. We laugh, cry, vent and do all sorts of things here. This is one big family and the best thing is that we always love each other and never judge like a lot of families do. I love that part the best.  Congratulations on your upcoming surgery. I had mine on 10/8/07 and would do it again in a heartbeat. I love the new me and what I am becoming. I look at the world differently and enjoy every minute of my new life. I only wish that I had done it sooner but then I guess I wasn't ready for it then. I am 53 and finally love the me that I am.  Hope to hear from you a lot on here. And again, welcome home.
