I am home
Hi, I juat got home about an hour ago and so happy to be home. my son was so excited to see me he is so loving and just couldnt keep his hands off me. I am having minimal pain, not on any pain meds right now. Late yesterday eveing I develop[ed a 101.8 fever that didnt go away until this morning and the doctor almost wasnt going to let me leave today. I prayed and prayed for it to go down because I am cash-self pay and cant afford the extra 12,000 for another day in the hospital. So my fever is gone and feel good. I just ate 1 tbsp of mashed potatoes and tiny bit of gravy. It was to die for- so good and I am stuffed! I also at for lunch today 1tbsp cream of wheat and 1tbsp chicken broth, and at dinner 1tbsp broth and sf jello. Tomorrow I start taking my protien drinks and continue with my "meals". I feel good and have no regrets My belly is huge from the gas they put in me and its tender. My drain comes out on this coming wednsday.

Sarah,
So glad you got home safely. Also glad you have found something that you can eat and enjoy! I'm learning a lot from everyone who has been through this and writing about their journys.
Your talk about being a self pay patient is what I am going through as well. My surgery is scheduled for Feb 11 and my biggest concern is having to stay an extra day in the hospital and coming up with the additional money. I guess I will be praying and praying like you! :)
I'm glad you are out and I wish you continued success!

Welcome home!! Glad your temp is staying down and you didn't have to stay an extra day!
How old is your son? I ask because my daughters will be 4 and 5 when I have my surgery in April, and my mom isn't sure it's a good idea for them to come see me in the hospital the day after. I also am not sure what to tell them...my dad had the surgery 18 months ago, so they were really little, but they did fine seeing Grandpa there and loved walking laps with him on the bariatric floor. Any tips for talking to preschoolers?
