Well the call finally came. At around 4 this afternoon. Stage 2 carcinoma. They are doing a radical hystorectomy. Radical meaning they will have to remove a fair amount of surrounding tissue which will irratate my bladder and intestines. I will have a cath for two to three weeks after surgery to keep my bladder empty. After that time they will remove it and I'll have to wear a depends till I can retrain my bladder to function properly again. He will also remove both ovaries. While he's in there he will determine by how much tissue he'll remove on whether or not I'll start chemo or not. At this point he's pretty confidinate that he can surgically remove everything. I'll go in 11 am Monday the 28th and be discharged sometime the following Thursday. I haven't had my big cry yet. I'm still pretty much stunned yet feeling kinda like "I told you so" going on in my head. But I'll get through this.. I know I will. Anyways - lots of things on my mind. Talk later.

Jodi, I was so shocked when I read your post. When they do the hysterectomy, will they be removing and testing the surounding lymph nodes at that time or did they remove some during the biopsy and already know if they are clear? By the 28th, I should be able to start driving again (I hope so anyway). Which hospital are you going to be at? Has the surgeon given an approximate time that the surgery will take? Will Matt have family or close friends there in the waiting room with him? Would you/he like for Bill & I to be there? We want to be there for you and Matt in any way that either of you would like and/or could benefit from...even if it's just getting Matt to go get something to eat. Don't get too hung up on the cath. When I had my hysterectomy, I also had a urethra sling put in. I had that nice obese, woman in her 40's thing that I'd pee a little bit every time I sneezed or coughed so they put the sling in to stop that (and it has done a terrific job! If you are experiencing that at all, I'd talk to the surgeon to see if that or a bladder sling could be put in at the same time). Because of the sling, I had to have the cath a little longer than norm. I had one for almost 3 weeks back in October too. That round though Seton would put an adult diaper on me to  go do my rehab because I had very little control over my bowels. One small cough could be a huge oops. Trust me, I would had rather had a Depend than a diaper...and I would had rather the lack of control have been the bladder instead. But honey, I survived it..and the embarassment of it...and you will too. I know you are disappointed because of wanting more children but hon, God blessed you by sending Matt into your life at just the right time. God blessed you with a very healthy and happy son. And that was after him already blessing you with Gage. Believe that he is watching over you...your life, your body and trust in him to take care of you. He will be in that operating room with you and he will be guiding the surgeon's hand. Check your email..ok? I'm here for you hon.... Sherri
