Back to surgery

Wel, it is my own fault. I have to have my gallbladder taken out. My doc perscribed me Actigol (?sp) after my surgery but I kept forgetting to take it. Actaully I was a little afraid because they seemed so big and it also said to take with food and I was just afraid it would get stuck. Well, here I am, almost 4 mo out, and now I have gall stones and the doc wants to take it out. I kind of wish he had taken it out when I had my RYN, but I guess there was nothing wrong with it at that time. I was afraid I had or was getting an ulcer because a lot of times when I would be eating my stomach was cramp up really bad. Well, it started doing it even when I wasn't eating. I called the doc and he had me go in for an ultrasound and low and behold, I had gall stones. Never had them before. At least I know what's going on and it should hopefully take care of my problem. They are going to do a scope when they do my surgery just to make sure there is no ulcer forming. i'm a little nervous to go back to the OR room, but I guess if I can make it through RYN this should be a piece of cake. ANyone had experience having this done after your surgery? What should I expect. I know most people say it effects the way you can eat, but hello I already deal with that! LOL Just wanting to get some expectations. Hope everyone is having a great Friday!

I had my RNY on 7/31 and my gallbladder removed (and also my g-tube placed) on 9/19. The gall bladder part of my second surgery was pretty much easy. I had no pain or anything in that area. I was sore but I think most of thats been from the g-tube not the gall bladder removal because I feel fine now. I think you'll do just fine though. :) Keep your head up.

Misty, What is a G tube and what is the purpose of having one? I was just curious what it is after reading your post. Stephanie

A G-tube is a gastrostomy tube basically it's a tube that was  put into my old stomach through the skin and when I have problems eating or vomiting (I've had some issues post op with chronic nausea and vomiting)  or whatever I can put a can of  formula in it and get my  nutrients and stuff.  Soo it's a feeding tube in my case .. Some people get g-tubes to drain excess fluid in their tummys. G-tubes aren't common and usually most people have smooth and great recoveries and don't need it

Hey Julie, I'm sorry that you have to have the gallbladder surgery.  I can't tell you what it's like after RNY, but I had mine removed almost 27 yrs. ago.  Back then it was an open surgery and I had to stay in the hospital for a week afterwards.  Now, assuming that they can do yours by laproscopic then it'll probably be a piece of cake.

Good Luck and you'll do fine!!!  Keep us updated.
