Are TT ever covered by insurance after WLS? If so, what are the traditional 'rules' to getting them covered.  I'm just thinking about a future with a flat stomach and how glorious that would be.

I would call you insurance company. Some do cover it based on medical necessity. They should have a medical policy or be able to send you info regarding what criteria needs to be met.

Most insurances that do cover plastic surgery only cover "reconstructive" surgery.  Meaning they will cover the lower abdomen only and not the "muffin top" above your belly button.  Usually the minimum requirements are that you have lost (and maintained) 100 pounds or more.  If you have skin rashes (document them with your PCP) then that will also help your cause.

But call your insurance company to be sure.

One additional note...be sure that the plastic surgeon that you choose is willing to even try to get your insurance to pay for the TT. Some aren't. Dr. Bergman/Dr. Grasse's office does and will. Sherri
