This protein powder crap is for the birds!!!  So far today I have gotten in about 25 g.  And that is if I can keep it in!   Sorry, I know, TMI.  I just needed to vent and see if there was anyone with ANY OTHER IDEAS?!?!?!  I am using the unflavored type, and it just isn't getting it. I can't afford to spend tons of money and find out that I can't drink it. I have gone thru ALL of my sample packs, and NOTHING is working!!!  I am starting to get muscle cramps in my legs because I know that I am not getting in what I need daily.   Is there anyone with ANY other ideas?  I am really needing to find something I like, without making me financially in the red any further than I already am!

I can't do any protein shakes either. What I did do was got the low card Slim Fast. I think there's like 25g in a can. There is also the Adkins Shakes as well. You can probabaly add the tasteless powder to them and see if that works, otherwise just by themself they are pretty good amount of protein. Hope this helps some. Julie

Thanks, Julie! I forgot that I have some of the high protein slimfast still. I will try that as soon as I can!!!  Thanks again!  I will also check out the Atkins ones, they may be just as easy to tolerate! Thanks!

LaChelle I tried the Atkins protein drink and it was disgusting to me.  I bought a 4 pack and took one sip out of one can and thru the rest away including the 3 unopened ones. I ended up getting a big jug of Whey protein (chocolate flavor) at Walmart.  It was pretty good at first, but then towards like my 5th week I was really struggling to choke it down,  but it isnt that bad.  1 scoop of the powder to 8 oz of milk 2x a day is all it takes.  I think the big container is like $13.00.  You might try that.  I started out on St. V's recipe as well and done that for a couple of days and I just couldnt tolerate it anymore. There also is a powder chocolate flavor you can add to milk in the aisle that has the powder drinks such as Crystal light.  I think it is called something like Moo Magic or something like that and it is sugar free.  Dont forget you can have SF chocolate syrup.  You may be able to add that as well to the ST. V's recipe and have a chocolate milk.  Good luck! Jenny

LaChelle- I wasn't able to tolerate the protein powders but I did try the Isopure from GNC liquid- looks like koolaid-gatorade and comes in a variety of flavors, some were alright some weren't.  I used them by themselves some and then I decided to make s/f jello with the drink instead of water! It helped some! Plus at GNC if you keep the receipt and don't like something you can return it up to 30 days even if it is open! Hope this helps! Hugz Dawn

Lachelle ~ I also couldn't stand the taste.....I put my unflavored protein powder in chicken broth and in oatmeal....I use the chicken boullion cubes and the instant less sugar oatmeal (Quaker Oats packets....get at WALMART). Also try the Special K2O drinks....they taste great and have protein in them...crystal light doesn't have the protein...also can get your water in that way...try mixing the powdered protein in with the flavored water and some fruit in a blender...instant smootie! hugggggggggggggs, Janene

Lord, keep me in your will so I won't be in your way.

Have you tried the protein powder for women? I think it's called Aria or something. I got it in the protein section at Walmart. I was adding it to homemade fruit and yogurt smoothies on one of my "diet" fads. I never could taste it. It does change the texture a bit though, but then again all protein drinks seem to have that. I'll check the back of the can for nutritional content when I get home.

I have had this problem too LaChelle. Does your doctor allow you to have milk?? Maybe you can try the milk mixture St. V's recommends. 4 c of milk + 1 c of dry milk and you can add whatever thats SF to flavor it.

Lachelle you can try the protein milk mixture from St v's but beware you may not be able to drink it becaus eof the lactose... as for the muscle cramps that's not from lack of protein that's lack of potassium... try mixing some banana in with some milk and drinking that and see if that helps with the cramps

Remember they don't expect you to be able to get everything in right away i couldn't get all my protein in til about 4 weeks after surgery... just do what you can and that's all you can do
