Okay I have that nasty sinus/respiratory thing that everyones been catching and nothing is helping at all. :( It's been 4 days now and it's kicking my butt. I've taken Nyquil and it's not giving me any relief from the coughing and I'm getting these nasty spasms in my rib area from coughing. I'm doing breathing treatments every 90-120 minutes and get temporary relief for a few minutes but I cough and hack. Anyone have any over the counter suggestions on something I can take???? Still no appointments with any of the doctors in my pCP's office. :(

I just went and got some Tylenol Cold multi-symptom at CVS and it has the tylenol and a nasal decongestant, cough suppressant and anti histamine. Hopefully this works.

Rubbing Vics vapor rub on the bottom of your feet then put socks on. NEver tried it during the day but at night it stops the cough.  I also have something. I have been taking mucenix (SP?) so I am not putting the vics on because I want to cough it all up.  Hope it helps  Robin

Sorry I battled also.  Time was the only cure.  I never tried over the counter.  I had a cough and cold syrup with no sugar.  It was called Donatasun, it helped the symptoms a little.  Still a little running nose when I walk or exercise but will put up with it.

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou has done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.

I have been so worried for you. With your asthma, you can get VERY ill from a respitory virus...make sure that it doesn't turn into an infection....take your vitamin C. I know a lot of people on here only do liquid meds, but my surgeon allowed me small pills from the first week on. I was taking sudafed severe cold and it seemed to do pretty well. I was also taking robitussin gel tabs-they're very smll and I don't think they have any sugar in them(because they don't need to taste good....but they work. Hugs, Angie P.S. If you get a fever, tell the doc(I mean really whine)or go to a CVS where the nurse practioners are and they'll give you an antibiotic(cephlex is a good one cause the pills aren't very big, Amoxicillin is HUGE, but can be given in liquid) take care.

I promise I'm not letting the Asthma go too far. My peak flows are still at the top of my red zone and even some in the yellow. I know my limits on it.  I don't think our CVS has a nurse practitioner though.

If you can't get in to your doc's office go to an urgent care clinic. They all take most insurances and I know this string of stuff going around can get really nasty. My little girl has been battleing it for almost 3 weeks now. Musinex is what they told me to take when I went to the urgent care clinic last week. I also had strep so they gave me an antibiotic for that. Especailly seeing that you have asthma you want to get this under control as soon as you can. Good luck and hope you get to feeling better soon! Julie
