LaChelle update...
As Jen posted she is in room 279 (listed as bed 2 but they said they would not give her a room mate the bari floor is closed for some reason) at Nortons Suburban Hospital (Off Dutchman's Lane) in Louisville. I had to leave because Rich had to go to work but she was feeling okay when we left. She was having some ice chips and trying to rest.
Her surgeon Dr. Shina said that everything went well. Her surgery took just a little over an hour. Her surgeon routinely puts an NG tube (tube in nose down into her stomach) for the first few hours and other than that making swallowing painful and annoying the heck out of her she was feeling good she said. She was ready to get up and run she said Haha, but they will make her wait til the pull the NG tube out. The nurse said it's usually in for 6-8 hours, but when we left NOTHING seemed to be coming out of it really and sooo we were hoping that they could pull it sooner. I asked them to get her some Chloraseptic or something for her throat so she had something to atleast soothe/numb it and her nurse said they would try and see what they could do. Other than the discomfort from that NG tube she said she didn't have any pain and hadn't used her pain pump button at all while we were there.
LaChelle asked me to tell you all IF you call her to please call her cell phone (It's listed on the directory) because she had that right next to her and she wouldn't have to strain or nothing to get it. She could keep it next to her whereas the room phone wouldn't reach very well.
Umm I think that is all for now. If anyone plans on going up and cannot remember her room number just remember that her first name is actually Mary :) So you'll have to ask for Mary Rick.
Umm thats all for now.. :) I am going to give her a hollar in a few hours, after she gets some rest.
Misty,
Thanks for the update on LaChelle. I just spoke with her and she sounds like she is really doing good. They took out the NG tube shortly before I called, so she was able to talk easier. She only used the pain pump button a couple times. It was great talking to her and she'll be back on here before we know it.

Glad to hear that she is doing so well and that they finally took that ol tube out of her nose. Misty I think its great that you were able to make her feel sooooo much better about going in by being there for her.

I got a message from LaChelle this morning when I stepped out for a bit and haven't had the chance to call her back yet but she sounds good and said shes doing good too. They have opened the bariatric floor up and they were going to be moving her to the 7th floor today. I know that she was supposed to have a barium swallow today too but I'm not sure if it's done yet or not but I'll give er a call in a little bit.
