Hello everyone!!  I'm new to the site and very excited to be here.  I just found out last week that my insurance has given me the green light for surgery (this has taken me 3 months to do because I had a hard time getting records from doctors charting my weight).  Anyway, I'm starting the process.  I start my classes on January 3 (4 of them once a week) and then I get to meet with my surgeon.  I also have to set my appointment with a psychologist.  Can anyone tell me what else I can expect to happen before surgery?  I excited, but very nervous. Just wanted to say hi and I'm looking forward to participating in this site for friends and support.

Hi, and welcome to the most wonderful place I have found. Everyone here is like a family and believe me they helped me through my surgery too.  The surgeon you have is the same one that I have. He is a wonderful doctor and person. I think very highly of him and all of his staff. Holly his PA is a great help too. Karen and Donna are great too. They are all very helpful and will take the time to answer any questions you have.  The time is going to go really fast, trust me. When I had one more class to go I was called for the blood work and then got the appointment with the doctor and they set my date then. In fact I didn't have to do the liquid diet for 2 weeks because it was set for 12 days. The doctor is a real stickler and he knows when you aren't following the diet before surgery. They told me that if he opens you up on the day of surgery and he sees that you didn't follow the pre-op diet he will close you up and that is the end of it.  If you have any questions don't hesitate to call me anytime. I live in Portage and so we are really close to each other. My number is 219-762-0791 and if I am not home just leave a message and I will get back to you right away.  Good luck on your trip of a lifetime. It is a fun trip, trust me.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.
