Psych Eval Back...I'm crazy

I guess I was too honest in my psych eval with Dr. Stote at St. Vs.  I have to go through a minimum of 3 months of counseling twice a month dealing with eating at regular intervals, avoiding excessive snacking (not sure what I said that gave him that impression),  reducing binge-eating and curtailing concealment of food and eating.   So in a nutshell - I'm a whackjob when it comes to food.  Does anyone know if Dr. Evanson's office will schedule my surgery (I already have my approval) and assume that I am going to do these things? What did others have to do after their psych evals?  I feel very discouraged.

(( HUGS )) I don't know if they will schedule your surgery now or make ya wait til after your appointments. The good thing is you will be able to nip the food for comfort stuff NOW before surgery rather than after!!! (( HUGS ))

Wow, Dr Stote made me do the exact same thing.  So we're both whackjobsI felt so defeated and I was so mad at him.  But I found a great counselor near where I lived and saw him for 3 months.  He didn't really see where Dr Stote was coming from but he did help me through some of my issues.  As soon as I was done with my counselng my surg got approved in no time.

I don't know about Dr. Evanson, but Dr. Inman's office got me scheduled for surgery before Dr. Stote's report even came back, because she had the insurance approval. Made me wonder what  I shelled out the $$$ for!

Dr. Stote said I needed 3 months also. So I guess we're all nuttier than squirrel sh*$!! I had to do my 3 sessions before they scheduled my date and they had to be over three months not 3 sessions. Good luck and even if you have to wait 3 more months its worth it.

Dr. Stote made me wait 6 months! Dr. E's office did go ahead and schedule my surgery though. Don't let Stote discourage you, just jump his little hoops and you'll be fine~!

I REALLY hated Dr. Stote--thought he was a bit of a whack job himself!  All I had to do was continue going to support groups (no set number of times) and see a therapist one time before surgery to have a therapist available after surgery if I needed one.  I know Dr. Cacucci's office (Carmel Surgical Specialists) wouldn't schedule my surgery until AFTER I saw the therapist though.  Good luck and hang in there!

It really isn't all that bad. I was only in his office for about 20-30 minutes. They told me when I scheduled to be available for 3 hours so I was kinda nervous. He does ask a lot of strange questions and some very personal....some include eating habits, how your relationships are with others, what kind of stress you have in  your life, a lot of questions of why do you think you do things... Dont stress out about it, you will do fine, just be honest. He may have been a little strange but he did have a few good points for me and made me think about how I got to this point in the first place. Good luck to you!
