Ok, so I want to workout at the YMCA but I am scared to go by myself....I have not had surgery yet but was wondering if anyone works out at the YMCA because I am going to join... If I had encouragement from someone I know I would keep doing it.... and I would encourage the person/people I go with... So does anyone want to join me and work out at the YMCA? I am wanting to stay south or east or downtown depending on the days everyone has available... I have a flexible(somewhat) schedule so yeah... I would like to find someone that is just starting out so I dont feel stupid since I dont workout much... but if you have worked out for a while you can show me some pointers... You know how it is to walk into a workout place and be the only "out of shape" person... I am not saying that is how the Ys are, but I have been to several tha I feel that way...

Your Y is probably not in Terre Haute, but I wanted to let you know I use my Y. I am a member there. I don't get there as often as I'd like lately, but I'm working on that. I just wanted to also say, don't be afraid to go there. Atleast at mine, there are all kinds of body types and fitness levels. I was nervous though about starting so I know what you might be feeling. I got a small package with a trainer to start, and that helped me feel like it was 'ok' for me to be in there working out.

I workout at NIFS on the IUPUI campus for now.  Please know that JUST WALKING the neighborhood is enough.  Get out and do it before you know it there will be others walking and will join in with you.   The Monon trail in Broad Ripple to Westfield is great there is always people walking and biking and rollerblading.  A small drive for you but certainly worth the time. Please just walk, best thing is go to Walmart near the pharmacy area and buy a Omron pedometer and log the steps you take daily.  The best thing about the Omron brand is it reset itself to zero every day.  Before long you can be up to 5+ miles a day. 2 Chronicles 16:9
For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou has done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.

I'm a member of the Y in Fishers.  It's pretty nice there but, it gets PACKED after work!!  *ugh*  If you want to come check it out, you're more than welcome to be my guest sometime. ck

We don't have a Y around here :( It's a bummer. I want to join the local fitness club but it's pointless to join before I get my G-tube out lol. Plus Dr C hasn't released me to do anything yet other than walk and I do a lot of that (I've started joggin a lil too). Now its bitter cold and I have an asthma flare up when I try to do too much outside soo I am gonna try and find somethign SOOOOON.
