Does anyone know what hotels are near Clarian North Hospital?  Is there any that give a discount when you're a patient getting ready for surgery?   I have to be at the hospital at 6:00am and live approx. an hour away, so I decided it'd be better to stay down there the night before surgery. Thanks, Candy

Unfortunately I don't know the names but I know there is at least one or 2 right there near the hospital. I was told by the hospital when I went in for pre-admission that they do give discounts for patients. If you have the hospitals number they can probably give you the names of the hotels and maybe even the numbers. That is where I had my surgery if you hadn't guessed that! :) Good luck!! Julie

Good morning Candy! I just wanted to let you know I looked on my way home last night (I drive by Clarian everyday since I work in Indy) and the 2 hotels I saw across from Clarian are Residence Inn by Mariott and Springhill Suites by Mariott. I'm not sure which one gives the discount, but hope this info helps a little more, if you haven't had a chance to call the hospital that is. :) Have a great day! Julie

Good morning to you too.....even though it's 12:24 Wed. morning.....lol.  Where do you work in Indy?  I was down there yesterday and today at the Bariatric Center and looked also.   I have to go to the hospital Thursday morning......7:15am......UGH!!!  I'm not an early morning person, in case you can't tell......lol.  Anyway, I have to have my pre-op tests, so I'll see if one of them give a discount, if I don't forget to ask them.

Thanks for looking for me though......I really appreciate it!!!   I didn't know if any of them gave discounts, so that will be helpful.....I'll just have to find out which one.

I hope you have a really good day!

Candy

Hi Candy, hope your day is going good today. :) I didn't go to work because of the snow. I have to leave at 6:30 and they roads were terrible and I figured they would be bad tonight after the winds picked up and all that. I work over by the airport, so its a good haul for me. Trying to find something a little closer to home, but no such luck yet. Good luck on your tests. I'm sure you will do fine! Have a great Wed. Julie

Hi Julie I hope your day off work was nice.  You do have a ways to go to get to work.  It is hard to find work.  Do you do office work or something else? I dread going to Indy tomorrow since I have to leave so early.  I think if I leave around 6:00, I'll probably have enough time to get there by 7:15, unless it is pretty slick. I haven't decided if I'm leaving around 5:45 or 6:00 because of the roads.  Later on it probably won't be quite so bad.

I hope you have a good day tomorrow I'll talk to ya later. Candy

You should have plenty of time to get there by 7:15 if you leave by 6. It typically takes me about 45 min to get to Clarian from Kokomo. I work for a Medicaid HMO (MDWise/Hoosier Alliance). I was in case managment but now I'm in provider relations. Its a good job, but the drive is really starting to get to me and the money I spend in gas. Holy Cow! :) I hope things go well for you today. Talk to you soon! Julie

Hi Julie,

I made very good time to the hospital.  I didn't get such good news from my tests though.  All of my blood tests were pretty much elevated and some of them pretty high.  I'm terrible about remembering to take my pills because I HATE to take medication.....so it's my own fault.  I even had elevated blood levels that I normally don't have.....liver enzymes and thyroid.

Maybe this is why I've been really nervous about this surgery......I'm never this bad when I have surgery, but this time I've really been hesitant about whether to have it or not. I'm glad I had the tests because now I know what all I have to work on.

Dr. Stewart at the bariatric center told me to set an alarm for taking my meds......so maybe that's the way to go.  We're not on a very good schedule because it seems like my husband is always busy and my 26 yr. old son that lives with us is still going to IUK and working at Delphi as a student employee at this time, so it's hard to have a meal at the same time all of the time.  Some of my meds I have to take with meals and I forget.  My diabetes medication makes me sick.  The Internist said that my doc should be able to give me something that won't make me sick.  In other words.....healthwise, I'm a mess.  Basically I'm waiting on my surgeon to call to let me know what's going on because there's a very good chance that I won't have surgery. I'll talk to ya later. Candy

Oh man, I'm so sorry to hear that. I know it is with taking meds. I am bad about it too. I am supposed to take my vitamin at night before bed and was doing terrible with it. I have gotten better thankfully, but I still forget to take my calcium citrate. I'm supposed to take that with a meal and just plain forget. Setting a timer might help. I sure hope he doens't give you bad news. Maybe he will just say get your levels under control and then talk again. Keep me updated! Julie

I could kick myself over and over again, but it wouldn't do any good.....lol. I took them today, but have 2 more to take at dinner........maybe this was a wake-up call.  I just hate to take them and I know that if I do have the surgery, I will have to take vitamins and calcium for the rest of my life.  Hopefully I'll learn a lesson.......at least I'm going to try to remember.  I'll talk to ya later.
