Indiana Medicaid

Has anyone here had surgery covered by Indiana Medicaid? I have heard they cover it and there is a doctor Kaderabek out of St. Vincents that will take it but I am just curious about anyone else's experience with this? Was it very difficult to get approved? I have just begun the process and am anxious as heck to get the ball rolling. I have to have a psych eval before I can make an appt. with the surgeon. Has anyone seen a good psych doctor in or near Terre Haute? I'm looking for some knowledgeable buddies. Thanks for reading. Stephanie

I work for a Medicaid partner and I am familiar with the guidelines. Your BMI has to be at least 40 or 35-40 with I think at least 2 co-morbidities (ie diabetes, hypertension, etc). You also have to have a documented 6 mo supervised weightloss within the last 2 yrs. They will also ask for your records from the past 5 yrs showing a history of obesity. My coson sees Dr.mattar at clarian bartric center today .He takes medicaid too.

there are sveral drs at clarian bariatrics that accept medicaid. please check them out before you SETTLE for dr kaderabek as i have heard many negative things about him. i have medicaid and am seeing dr inman at clarian. i will be submitting to insurance the end of the month. clarian has a psych dr on staff that specialized in bariatrics. they also have a list of medicaids requirements. you can start by calling cheryl at (317) 275-6005 and get signed up for a seminar. good luck on your journey.

CONGRATS - on your choice to have WLS!!! There are several surgeons in the Indianapolis area that take Medicaid. Feel free to call the Customer Service Number on the back of your Medicaid card as they are always eager to answer ANY question you may have in regards to many aspects of your surgery including a listing of acceptable surgeons. You can also request a copy of the guidelines to be mailed to you. Heck, my CSR even supplied me with the shortcuts to get approved and quickly. After submitting my paperwork I was approved in two weeks and had surgery two months later and have had wonderful success. Good Luck on your journey and again CONGRATS! Jodi

I don't know much about the medicaid issues,.. but I am from Terre Haute, too! I would recommend, in a heartbeat, Murphy/Urban and Associates for a psychological evaluation. They are wonderful psychologists there, and do accept medicaid. Their number is (812) 235-6121.
