Emails...& Secret Pals

How does one join?

Miss Sax (& anyone else interested),

First, if you have not done so already, ask Floyd to be put on the Hoosier's Directory. Since his deadline for the Dec. Update was at noon, if you missed it, drop me a note (hit 'contact' under this post) with your full name and your email address. I'll send you a link that you can join the secret pal exchange with. To join, each person is expected to commit to contacting their 'pal' on a monthly basis in some manner so that they know that their 'pal' is thinking of them. This can be by ecard, card, small gift, whatever you choose. All are welcome to participate in the secret pal exchange but I do ask that each 'pal' also be on the directory. Sherri

How does all of this work?  I do not know because I normally post in the lap-band forum.  I'm sorry.  Could someone fill me in on what I need to do to be a part of this?  Thanks.

Larry, With the Secret Pal Exchange, I am using a program called Elfster this year to manage the drawing of the names & people's pertinent information. Anyone who participates is asked to remember their person at least once per month by either sending them a card, ecard, small gift, or whatever you feel comfortable in sending. Anything really just so your person knows you were wishing them the best that month. Special dates to remember are birthdays, anniversaries, surgery anniversaries (aka surgiversary), or if you learn that they have been going through an especially rough time. Speaking as one *****cently was in the hospital for 4 weeks, cards mean the world to one who isn't doing very well. Here on this board, we are like family. We not only 'socialize' here, but do in person as much as we can as well. In fact, we're having an Ornament exchange this Saturday. In Feb, my husband & I usually host a hot tub party. In addition to all those 'special' get togethers, we also have quarterly clothing exchanges. We just really enjoy each others company! We realize however that Indiana can be a very large state. So...we also have a Hoosier Directory (which Floyd created & maintains for us). That directory makes it posible that if I find myself in the southern part of the state, I can check on it and see if I'm going to be close to someone, contact them, and see if they want to get together while I'm in their neck of the woods. This directory is NOT for sending out funnies or any other type of spam. We may send out messages to all on the directory, but it will be for informational purposes only (like with Elfster or any get-togethers).  So...if you'd like to be included on that, please contact Floyd.
