MEDICAID AND MEDICARE SURGEONS LIST!

to the best of my knowledge, Medicare requires that bariatric surgery be done at a "Center of Excellence".  these facilities must perform a minimum amount of surgeries to qualify.

unfortunately, Dr Hoekstra does not qualify, simply because he does not perform this surgery at the arbitrary frequency determined by Medicare.

currently, Dr Hoekstra's office is researching if he is able to offer bariatric surgery to Medicaid patients.

I know this is a late reply to your post, but I just joined,

I started out with Dr. Hoekstra when I had insurance (BCBS) then could not use him because my insurance dropped (got fired at my job for a panic attack)  He does NOT take Medicare or Medicaid.  Those black folks who are his patients have jobs and insurance.  I know, because I was one of them.  I'm now on Soc Sec Disability,  and have both Medicare and Medicaid (with a $972 per month deductable).  I had to switch to St. Vincent's.  My doctor, Dr. Margaret Inman will take a mix of Medicare and Medicaid, or just Medicare,but not straight Medicaid..

Dr. Hoekstra, who was the first surgeon I wqas going with for my DS, passed away in 2008, before I could get my surgery.
