New to this forum

Hi, I have been on OH for a while, but just found out there is a specifc site for us Hoosiers! :) I had my RYN 11 weeks ago tomorrow and am down 46 lbs so far. I'm really excited. Just wanted to put myself out here and maybe meet some fellow Hoosiers. People from other states are great, but your home state is aways best right? Looking forward to meeting new folks! Julie

Everyone is so friendly and helpful here.  I have been around on this board since around July, just had surgery 10/10, so I am still fairly new to the surgery itself.   BTW great job on the weight loss.

Welcome to the Indiana board! I'm one of the old-timers here. There's not alot of us, but we're out here..lol. This board is unique is that we aren't 'just' online friends. We also like to get together in person! Kokomo isn't that far from Indy..which tends to be the central location for many of our activities so I hope you'll be able to make it to some of the get-togethers! If ever there's anything we can help you with (surgery related or not), please feel free to let us know. We'll do our best to help you out and try to give advise that you'll find useful. Sherri

Hi Sherri, thanks for the info. I work in Indy so that would be perfect if they are during the week. I have not attended any support group meetings or really anything since my surgery and it would be nice to have some people I can turn to with questions. How do we know about events? Most of the activities are on Saturday's (although we do meet for dinner occationally during the weekdays). Spouses/significant other's are more than welcome. There are some activities that really aren't kid friendly (like the hot tub party my hubby & I host each year), but we have others in which they'd have fun at (like a swimming party). If you keep an eye on the board, there are usually several posts leading up to each event. In addition to the posts, Floyd Curvin keeps a directory of the members (who wish to be on the directory) and sends out emails to those on it informing/reminding them of upcoming events. Just contact him and he'll be happy to add you to the December update. Honestly, I don't attend any 'support' meetings either. I get more support from my OH Hoosier's than I ever got at any of the hospital sponsored meetings. Sherri

Hey, my name is Megan. I have found out so much stuff about the surgery on here. I am still thinking about doing it--Actually I should be doing it in Febuary-ish if all goes well. Welcome, welcome, welcome!  I'm Whitney! This is a great board with some great folks!  Great job on the weight loss!  I just had surgery two weeks ago this coming Monday. I live in Elwood, so we're practically neighbors!
