Dr Huse is wonderful.  He he is my surgeon, and I had my sugery will be 2 years in February and I had no compliciations.  If I had to do it all over again he would be the one that I would choice.  Dr Kaderabek, I have never heard the name.

Amanda,

If I HAD to choose between these two doctors, Dr. Huse would get my vote....but I would check with your insurance instead of St. Vincent and ask them which surgeons are covered. There are several surgeons who go through St. Vincents...not just those 2.

please do you best to find some1 other than kaderabek. when i first started my research, i was told by st v that he was the only one that accepted my insurance. i went to his seminar and felt very uncomfortable. he told me, without examining me, that i would have to have an open procedure becuase i had previous abdominal surgeries and that if he had to do an open procedure then he would only perform a procedure called the fobi pouch-- i would have NO choice in the matter. then i asked about him on here and i heard alot of negative things about him. i have heard lots of good things about dr huse. also remember that st v's is not the only indy hospital that is a bariatric center of excellence. you can also go to clarian north that works with clarian bariatrics; they may have more dr's that accept your insurance. lastly, please make sure that you research ALL forms of bariatric surgery( lap-band, r n y, ds, vgs) bfore you make your decision on which surgery to have.

Hi Amanda, I had Dr. Huse 10-1/2 yrs. ago to do a VBG on me.  I have gotten along very well, but alot of times with a VBG there can be weight regain if the ring stretches or staples come out.  I am having a revision with Dr. Huse at Clarian North Hospital on Dec. 17th.  I really like him....he's very soft spoken, but definitely knows what he's doing.  When I saw him last week he explained why I've gained some weight back (but only have gained 40 lbs. or so since I had it, so not too bad).  He also explained that with the RNY they cut the stomach and let scar tissue grow there because it's stronger than the staples. Alot of time there is a staple-line breakdown that causes weight gain with the VBG, which is why he doesn't do it anymore.  I have alot of co-morbidities, which is why I want to get the rest of the weight off.....I still had about 13 lbs. to go to goal and I'd lost 80 lbs. I don't know anything about the other doctor.  But I would definitely recommend Dr. Huse!  He goes to both hospitals.  I hope this helps some.  Everyone that I know of that has had him really likes him.  Candy

Amanda~ I had Doc Huse...I had an open RNY on Sept. 27, 2007...I feel like the poster child for RNY surgery!  I have had wonderful progress and have had NO ISSUES with anything...Doc Huse is the greatest...he was in my room every day at the hospital in the AM and has a VERY good bedside manner..He explains EVERYTHING in "idiot terms" lol  I understood exactly what he was gonna do and how to get along once I got home.  Doc Huse is the one! I am so glad you chose Dr Huse. I had both doctors, I started with Dr Kaderabek, ended with Dr Huse. I am so blessed that Dr Huse took me on after everything I went through with Dr K. I would not have had so many medical problems if I would have started with Dr Huse. I so happy you choose Dr Huse, hes great.  Blessings,Gail

I have not chose a dr. yet , but I have ruled out dr. k! I got some personal messages and I will not go to him. I may have to look into clairian because huse said I may not qualify. Im just at the beginning of getting sick from my weight so I dont have evertyting diagnosed yet. _ I guess yu have to be really sick before you get surgery - im trying not to get too sick so I dont have conplications later in life
