Okay, I'm finding that it's easier for me to take pills now and I really don't want to have to depend on my gtube as often as I do. Right now I'm doing liquid centrum but taste wise I can't do it orally because it comes back up every time. Sooo I'm curious which vitamins y'all take as far as a multi vitamin?? I can't do the flinstone chewables they come back up and they bother my teeth. I want to try and start taking multivitamin pills, same thing for calcium because the citracal creamy bites make me get sick they're tooo sweet and I only keep half of them down most the time and I want to make sure I'm getting everything in. Also do any of y'all take iron and if so what do you take?? Is there a certain kind of iron thats better than the other? Any help is sooo appreciated y'all!!!!! I get my centrum in via gtube but like I said I really want this out (i know i have it til atleast Jan 21 now though) and so I hate depending on it, I am still tube feeding a couple times a day anyways but I'm trying to work on that also.

My Dr was worried if I took pills they would end up coming out whole. undesolved. But I rook my vitamins and put them in an ounce of water to see how long it took for them to melt. It took 5 minutes. So she was satisfied. I go to Walmart and get the big bottle of Multivitamins (not coated like one a days are, make sure of that) a big bottle of Calicum citrate and B-1 and I take Biotin . They all melted in the 1 ounce of water in 5 minutes so I know by the time they get to my intestines they are all disolved and can make it to my bloodstream. My blood work is good everytime I have it tested. Honestly when I took liquid vitamins I really liked the Cranberry based multi vitamin liquid at GNC I took those for the first 9 months. Linda Kay

Does anyone actually crush the calcium vitamins instead of using the chewy ones???  I was just wondering since I can't find the chewables around here anymore.

LaChelle,

I asked my pharmacist to order the creamy bites for me.  He keeps them stocked up for me now.  They are expensive but it saves me a trip to Evansville or Owensboro.  I use the caramel ones and don't find them to be too bad.  I haven't tried the other flavors yet.

Hope this helps.

I think Janene was cutting her calcium pills up and taking them. I dont know how she is doing it now.  I found the Citracal online at drugstore.com they are like $8.00 a box, of course there is shipping charges as well.  I bought 2 boxes a chocolate and a carmel.  I cant stand the carmel ones, I am trying to choke them down just so I dont waste the money, but sometimes I gag on them.  The chocolate is pretty good.  I would just ask your nut if cutting up the calcium pills is ok.

Jenny, I sure wish we lived close. I love the caramel creamy bites- I would trade you chocolate for caramel! Re: vitamins. . . I just went to Dr. Cacucci on Monday for my 6 month check and saw the nut as well. i talked with the nut about vitamins to double check my dosage. I was taking 3 Flintstone chewables but was tired of them so she said if I take citracal chewables to chew 3 of them also. I asked about prenatal vitamins and she said they do not recommend them b/c they do not have as much vitamin A as we need. I know there are practices that have their patients take prenatals but thought I should post this info since I know Misty goes to the same doctor I do. Glad to know about the cranberry flavored at GNC, I might try that! Re:iron. . . .I find it really constipates me but ask a nut b/c there are some that are not as constipating as others.
